Not fallen, so no idea why my left hip has decided to join the party, it's usually the right one! :D
Maybe your hip is reacting to the tension through your leg from trying to keep the car alright with the clutch?

Welcome puzzled  The tramadol I do take when things get unbearable. I sort of liken it to getting a bit high (stoned or something) as it makes me a bit numb and spaced, especially if/when I take it with cocod and diclofenac (antinflammatory). You can take them together, but it's not highly recommended iirc. Like the others have said it gives people different reactions.
Oh and I should warn you (and SS) that it may make you itchy all over as/when it wears off - at least that's the reaction I get. ;) I think it's something to do with it dulling the reception to/from nerve endings?

To everyone else:  hi guys! I'm feeling fluey today, and IBS had me up til 3.30am last night, puking and such :o so not doing very much today. Hubby's been into work yesterday and today, altho the office closed early, and now he's gone to his second job at the hotel. I hope the temps don't drop too much and he doesn't finish too late...

  • thanks guys, was thinking about starting it tonight, but am off to see phatom in London tomos, think i will take some tonight before i go to bed and then see how it does, i dont mind being a bit vauge, i normally am lol.

I asked the Dr about pain clinic and he said to wait until i have seen the specialist next week so just another case of wait and see, am supposed to be driving up to see bf (85 miles) after the appointment, but dont need to take the car anywhere at all until then so hopefully the tablets will have worked their way through the worst of it.

Hopefully both Saucy and i will be lucky and it will not have any bad effects only good ones :)

Saucy, have you read the leaflet yet? its like a reason why not to take it lol

No probs, although we're not allowed to give advice - just comment anecdotally ;)

I think with the amitriptyline you're supposed to take it consistantly so that it's consistantly in your system, rather than now and again. People have commented that they've gotten better results taking it early in the evening, rather than just before sleep. And in my case I got used to them within a week or two, whereas messing about with the dose constantly was a bit of a nightmare. Might be worth a think?

Tramadol I wouldn't put in the same bracket as the amitritplyine, and not sure about the itches with that? But tramadol is definitely in the painkiller bracket but I wouldn't try it out before driving, especially when you're not used to it.

NB: Anything in this post must be thought of as just my thoughts and conjecture. NOT medical advice. Always follow the advice and consult with your medical professionals before taking any action. ;)

Tramadol makes me itch like crazy, I always take it with an antihistamine and that makes a little difference. Codeine did nothing for me and tramadol (I actually have tramacet- tramadol with pareacetomol combined, less side effects) does very little, but then that's better than nothing at times.

I hate pain, (obvious much?! :p) I've had constant- 24/7 headpain since feb 07, next month will be my 3 year anniversary, been on anti-convulsants, beta blockers, tricyclics, and some others than I never can remember the name of, only amitriptyline has made a teeny bit of difference, and even that I'm not sure if it's the side effects that make the pain worse when I come off it.

I really should get my GP to refer me back to the pain clinic again now that I'm 18 and I've tried a TENS, and see what they have to say. Probably very little. My headpain's been flared up way more than usual for the last week or so, it's driving me insane. Have seen a chiropractor, a cranial osteopath and had accupuncture (just one session of the last two as they both made me incredibly ill, more the osteopath than the accupuncture, though neither where fun.) over the last 3 years aswell as conventional meds, and painkillers. Chronic pain in under 18's seems to be hard for them to do anything about, it's not something most of the dr's round here see, Shropshire's full of old people ;) aich. *self pitying rant over*

Bigzippy - Hmm, that is a thought....maybe it was where I was so stressed driving back home last night it overstressed/tensioned it (or I just slept too heavily/funny on it).

I sorted it in the end, took some painkillers and headed off to bed with my wheat bag, still got the pins and needles in my right hand and the stiff and sore foot and toes though!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I have just read it, and taken one...feeling a bit nervous! How's it going for you?

Thanks for your long response to my other thread too, I appreciate you taking the time to read it :o

    Feeling lonely tonight :(

How often do you come off it? The impression I was given was that it helped you get/stay asleep - or in the right "repairing" stage of sleep - and that's how it helps us.
They wanted me to have acupuncture for the ankle when I finally saw the physio, which I kindly turned down. I've heard too many horror stories about it from Firbo sufferers - and combined with my natural aversion to all things pointy I steer well clear!

Good call. I find that my joints ache more when I've had a long/stressful drive...

BZ only when I've forgotten to reorder :o paha. Our pharmacy says you have to allow 48 hours from placing rpt prescription request to picking up, but as dad's in there often they let him pick up sooner most of the time :) anything more than one, max 2 nights without it and I feel v sick, headpain gets worse etc, and that's just with 10mg! I was originally given it for pain and sleep, did nothing for sleep, and maybe a little for the pain :)
