Brilliant news Trialia! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I rang -- and I'm moving in a month! *squeaks happily*
Thank you all for your support with the situation!

hi all, just wondering if anyone can help
im really suffering with pain today, almost in tears sat here at work and waiting a call back from dr.
All they have found so far is two corroded disks that are causing muscle pain and will get worse, they wont operate becuase of my age (27) and becuase i dont have children and i dont know what to do.
I worked out yesterday im getting about 4 pain free days a month, its not always this bad.
Have just looked on the DLA site after reading on here and the checklist says im not legible for any financial help, but i just want to be taken seriously and for the pain to stop!
I work full time at a desk job and have recently been walking to and from work (3 miles each way) walking is not an issue in the most part, when i hit my threashold im done, but am relatively fit, its just the pain that takes over and i have to stop.
At the moment i cant sit, cant stand, (cant lie as am at work lol) and dont know what to do with myself.
Sorry for moaning - i did post on her yesterday but the post dissapeared before i had chance to reply so am guessing mods didnt like it.
thanks for reading

The mods wouldn't have deleted anything from this thread unless it was abusive or something. Perhaps there was a technical fault?
I'm really sorry to hear about your situation. Pain is an awful thing to cope with.
Have you asked for a referral to a pain clinic? They aren't miracle workers, but they may find something that helps.
Is there anything you've tried? For example massage, heat packs, TENs machine, acupuncture, etc. All things to give a go if you haven't already!
DLA is split into two parts - the care component, and then the mobility component. I very much doubt you will get mobility if you can walk three miles. Do you have any care needs? For example do you need help getting in and out of shower/bath? Does someone else need to cook your meals? Help you get dressed? If so you may be eligible for the care part of DLA.
Is there anything specific you'd like help with? Are you asking about benefits, pain relief, or both?
Anyway - welcome to the cafe!"There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -
HI Jazabelle
I dont really know what i want help with lol, everything i suppose, ive just hit a wall today and it hurts and i want a moan.
I dont really have anyone to help me, i have issues with letting people help and live with house mates who are the same age but we dont really know each other that well so they cant help.
I can do most things and do, do most things, but on a bad day i just dont bother, it was a struggle to put socks on this morning but i had to get to work so had to walk.
the last specialist told me to exercise more, lose weight and improve my core stability to slow down the rest of my disks corroding but this is all happening very fast, i started getting back pain in october is 2008 and now its january 2010 and i dont know what to do with myself.
I have a chari (sp) malformation as well which is being investigated at the appointment next week as well as the two corroded disks and screws in my left knee from patella realignment surgery in 2002.
Im not good with feeling like this so apologies, i normally just put up and shut up.
Congratulations on the house Trillia

Hi,
Sorry to interupt.
I just wanted to come back and say that yesterday I got my official fibromyalgia diagnosis, if anyone remembers me!
I'm suffering, and I might get kicked out of uni on Monday, but at least someone believes it's real.
I hope you are all feeling okay,

Are you on any painkillers? If not I would go to your doctor and explain how much pain you are in. At least it would help you through your bad days.
Sadly there is no one-fits-all answer to pain - otherwise we all wouldn't be here!
I don't blame you for wanting to get it out - it's good not to keep it in anyway."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -

Congrats on the diagnosis! It's great to finally have a name to put to your pain.
What's going on at university? Sorry to hear that."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -

lots of pain killers lol, am on naproxyn, co-codomol/co-drydomol interchanged and amitryptaline at night - but amitriptaline really knocks me out and im a bit spaced the day after so if im planning on driving or anything that takes brain power its a no go.
i have thought about a tens machine and am going to ask dr if it would be any good when he calls me, hopefully this afternoon!
thank you for listening0
