We almost ended up beneath a car this afternoon!
Took the boys out for a walk to the shop as I was too much of a wuss to take the car and on the way back, we had just reached our close through a cut through and a car going much too fast and expecting his brakes to work in the same manner as usual, went straight on and ended up on the pavement right in front of us.
If we hadn't paused briefly to throw a snowball, we would have been at the point of the pavement he ended up on.
The driver thought it was a great hoot even if his car was then missing most of the bumper and was not a pretty sight.
Now hoping school is off tomorrow morning, we have had further very heavy snow fall this afternoon, roads look even worse and more forecast overnight..and of course, it is freezing up now, although not sure what I am going to do tomorrow afternoon for getting to the hospital with youngest.....have even thought about taking a bus despite it being a fair distance away and youngest completely freaks on public transport! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

What about a taxi? Or maybe a lift from someone kindly?"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
It was!
Taxi is too expensive at around £60 for the round trip possibly more if the conditions are bad and it takes longer..and a lift with someone else is not really possible as my brother will be working (as a taxi driver, weird eh?) and I would be reluctant for my father to drive us.
If we do end up on a bus, I will just have to try to keep youngest calm and turn it into an adventure or something...he's got to get used to it at some point anyway, otherwise he is going to struggle to cope when he reaches adult hood (this is my mantra when trying anything new with him, it helps get through it).
Who knows, they may even cancel the appointment like other hospitals have done due to the adverse conditions. We made it! Just spoken to the hospital, apparently the main roads are ok to drive on (just these roads around here a begger), so should be ok to attempt it in my own car.
Just got to pluck up the courage to go out there now and get some fuel in the car and drop middle son off at my parents as his school is closed today (they were due to pick him up from school anyway).....eeekk!
Think it may be a slow drive there and back, I don't want to take any chances. We made it! I don't have to go out today, but tomorrow I've said I will pick up my Grandad whose car is being put in for an MOT if he's not able to wait while they do it.
Yesterday I skidded on the road and my brakes stopped working - it was really scary.I'm not used to driving in the snow and I just want to stay in.

It's good, isn't it? I'm actually getting more done, because I'm stopping when I've done the day's tasks, rather than keeping going if I'm having a good day and then spending the next 3 days flat on my back.
All of you who are having to drive please, please be extra careful out there. Mr LW is topping up with petrol more frequently, to make sure he doesn't have a situation where he has to go and get it in the middle of a snowstorm. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Nope, lw, my fingers are firmly clinging on for dear life and I ain't shifting :D
I fully intend to go back to it, but have just had a "meh" couple of days and took a little bum skid on the snow today, so am sitting now.
