Pain. Loneliness. And I just want someone to tell me what the hell to do with this bleedin ankle/leg!

Aw, that's awful, I'm so sorry. There is nothing worse than being in awful pain, and feeling low at the same time. I know he has to work, but would be nice if he could shift some things about to see you in the evenings. It's not sitting there alone and bored all day, then having to do so in the evenings as well. :(

Is your ankle broken? I can imagine that it's almost worse if it's not. Bones heal, but muscles/ligaments can be right b*ggers. It's like you need to relax your foot - but you can't just not move, as you say! Have you thought about asking for hydrotherapy? My physio has just referred me, and it means I can do exercises in warm water, which takes the weight off the joints. You'd still have to hop around in the water, but just thinking it might hurt slightly less?

Sorry to hear about your leg as well. I used to really suffer with my feet (I have metatarsalgia) and either my other foot or the other side of the bad foot would always flare up from changing the weight positions. Once one thing is out, it knocks everything out, like a vicious circle.
Sore! Went to my GPs yesterday, who dressed it for me, and said I should go back to A&E, but they don't care. It goes from being hot and tingly to stabbing pains, and then numb. My shoe doesn't fit over it anymore. It's clean and dressed though, so I'll leave it for now.
I don't know what to argue, as they haven't put why they rejected me!! I shall write back anyway, I think, I'm getting all my paperwork done tonight.

You have every right to second opinion though. How can so many people say it's broken, just for one doctor to turn around and say it's not? What were all the others looking at? Do you have a walk-in centre you could go instead of A&E? I'm sure ours has an X-Ray, so it might save some waiting?

Oh dear, we do have a lot of bad feet/ankles around here don't we!

    BZ - I hope you are feeling a little better...chin up :)
    Cheers dude. You too!
I think with the sensations you're getting in your foot it sounds nerve related. Not that that really helps you much, as that could be because of fibro or a break or a sprain! I get it a lot when I've moved mine or subjected it to the hot/cold business, esp when I then touch a cushion or something with my foot and it sends my nerve endings crazy!

He's booked a day off next week and one two weeks later and then a week later again. :A He is trying, bless him, but it's still hard. And I know what it's like to be on his side too, and I know how hard it is and he probably doesn't get enough time to himself to keep it together tbh...:o:heart2:

No it's not broken, and tbh I wish it was. The soft tissue damage is pretty extensive and I think it's gonna be a long haul to get it back to walkable tbh. I was wondering before actually about what the physio'll want me to do with it, and I wondered about them suggesting tryin to do something in water/hydropool... altho I suspect they'd know what they were talking about, the mere idea freaks me out atm. I struggle so much just with a bath and getting un/dressed, even with hubby here, that I'd just DREAD going to a pool for it... esp on top of not being able to get myself there or back etc...:o Then there's also the selfconfidence/image issues

What's metatarsalgia, for the ignorant?:o It is a completely vicious cycle. It's driving me crazy. As soon as I start to feel like I'm getting to grips with it again, something else'll come and knock me back on my @rse. The constant up/down/side-to-side is driving me demented!

WE do, unfortunately! I'm with you tho jaz, if you're still worried about it Saucy you are more than entitled to get it looked at again. I'm sure there must be a Walk-In centre there...? Mine's got an xray dept too....

Ouch! Sounds painful sharon, I know what mine are like and that's bad enough, so definitely complete sympathy for you hun! Wondering who's wedding it was now, but I'm sure they loved it that you made it to celebrate with them. It really upset me that my aunt couldn't be with us for ours...:o
Happy Birthday to your hubby!! :bdaycake:

Um...did you just apologise for posting on a thread for posts...? Rather daft logic don't you think??;)
There's no such thing as taking over either...if there were more about you wouldn't notice how much you're posting :) Besides, you're keeping me distracted from some pain, so I'll take it ;)

PS. XFactor's Stacey should never open her mouth other than to SING!

Yeah, completely agree about it being broken. As I said, bones heal, but other things get very complicated.

I wouldn't rely on them referring you to things, I don't think I've ever been offered a referral in my life without asking for it. :(

I completely understand what you mean about the pool and body issues. I am very overweight, I mean really, not just a little bit of extra weight. So I point blank refused to swim for years, even though I used to love swimming as a child. Then when I was at uni the local pool offered a free swim an hour a week for disabled people. So I decided to just give it a go, and I realised no one was looking at me. They were all concentrating on their own swim. Over time I built up enough confidence to attempt a swim in the 'normal' hour and found the same thing.

With hydrotherapy, there are only three others in the pool, and they are all doing their own exercises.

I do understand, believe me, but just wanted to share my own experience. I'm not sure what they'd do with someone who has difficulties getting dressed though, but they may have a system in place.

It is pain in the ball of your foot - to do with a deformity in the metatarsal bones.

I really hope you both get some relief soon.

Haha, sorry, just everytime I look I'm the last poster, and I thought you might all be getting sick of me!!

Oh god, completely agree about Stacey! Yes, she can sing, but she's going to be a mess when it comes to interviews! Can you imagine her on GMTV or something? A giggling mess! They will never get any sense out of her.

lol, I think I got what you meant anyway ;) Yeah having things to look forward is definitely key. And is why I've been so low today I think, because I don't really have anything to look forward to in the next few days... I keep trying to get friends/family involved but it's a bit like this :wall:atm tbh. I feel sorry for hubby shouldering all this on his todd, I know I'm hard work:o

I think you almost get more sympathy if you have broken it! Saying that, the way I was on it (I actually have a mark on the top of my foot where it went all the way round to smack the stone steps_pale_) I think it would've ended up in a compound fracture and a rather messy break to heal...so maybe I am better off this way...

I don't mate, trust me. I've been campaigning for 2 weeks to get this physio appt. If they'd listened 2 weeks ago I'd've either seen them by now or be seeing them this week.

Thanks for your weigh in (no pun intended!) on the pool/body issues. I used to go 2-3 times a week before/when I first got this ill and got over myself a bit. It's not too bad once you're actually in the water, but I know it'd take an age to get in and out etc, and that's the worst bits.
As for the dressing etc aspects: I deeply suspect they'd expect a carer to be with you tbh...

Lol, behave, I've been like that before too...and I've still not done my run down of the wedding day or honeymoon yet! I think lw and morag are going to disown me soon!:p

Tell me about it...ugh it's cringe worthy, bless her! I really don't think "Jamie Afro" is that much cop either tbh... At least not as good as the hype.

Oh that sucks. Just expect you to live with the pain, do they? Well, I know the answer to that - they always do!

Ooh, I hate getting out of the water. Being in it takes all the weight, and is so relaxing, then getting out is like someone has come along and attached lead weights to you.

They do have one of those seat things to lower you in if that would help?

Actually at the hydo pool, I was thrilled to find they don't have a ladder, but slowly reclining steps, with rails either side, so much easier to get in and out.

But I do understand the worries and just the sheer energy it takes. Getting dressed and dry afterwards takes up energy on the best of the days, let alone when you have a specific injury that will cause balance issues.

I just desperately want to cut Jamie's hair. It's just too big. I mean imagine sitting behind him in a theatre! John and Edward just don't have good enough vocals. I feel really sorry for them, because now the other judges are going to be harsh. But they will be going soon, I should imagine.
