Hi everyone. Am going to catch up properly just thought I would say hello. Not had a good few days but hoping things are getting better.0

black paw - thanks, but the virus is nothing like that. I've ran all the scans and it won't go. It doesn't infect others, it just redirects my google search to their search engine. Annoying, but harmless. I probably will wipe all and start again at some point to get rid of it, because none of the virus scans can."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0

If it is a virus and you know which file it's from you can go into "safe mode" to delete it- I had trojans embedded in files, but I just couldn't delete them at all...til someone suggested going into safe mode. Then it let me."I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -
No, I'm sure it's a virus. The settings still show google as my search setting. I can't remember what it was called, but it was doing a lot more than redirecting, like stopping access to the microsoft website, and putting weird smileys everywhere. I got rid of that much, but it's left this small redirect. I can't remember what the virus is called though, there was a lot of info about it at one time. It was caused by accidently downloading a bar for the top of the IE screen, which was linked on to a legitimate download."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0

The issue is more with Firefox, not the virus. I've done lots of searches on google and got this far, but it was frustrating and I just gave up and moved to firefire. I just mentioned it as a reason why I don't use IE now, and would like to fix Firefox.
