Hi all, thanks Horace and Wolfie, sigh it's got worse here all the ceiling has been pulled down in the utility/kitchen anex area but there's no wall between that and my kitchen so they've erected a dust sheet but that doesn't stop the noise, dust etc and the smell oh god what the heck is it I've no idea. Anyway I asked about temporary re location but they can only offer bedsits and none are disabled friendly as I have to have raised loo, rails, disabled shower unit, special bed/mattress and can't climb stairs etc so I'm stuck here. I've managed to have some crisp breads in the evening but I've gone right off food now. Sorry to talk about this in a happy cafe area but I feel so drained and lost here and my head hurts from all the clanging of metal on metal sound and I'm freezing coz he has the back and front door open to vent the dust out. I've wrapped up but am still shivering and shaking and my fingers and legs are going purplely colour. Dam this house. Sigh. I was supposed to be excited today as my boyfriend is taking me to see Keane at the O2 tonight but to be honest I feel so ill now I don't want to go.

Although I'm in India my friend is going to see Keane.
Is she excited? You bet. Go and enjoy.

Just bought some garish jewellery. It is imitation but looks very good. My Indian friend is very particular about colour so I got a fabulous black and silver beaded necklace. Can't make use of the ear rings though as my ears are not pierced. Indians think that very odd indeed.
Cooling coconut juice and bananas on offer today.

TaBunny - you go out tonight, I know you don't feel like it right now but the change will do you good plus you will have a fantastic time (its always the way when you are not looking forward to something - you go and have a whale of a time anyway:D ).

The smell is dust and brick dust etc has an odd smell anyway - why not see if you can put some perfume on or even spray it on a hanky and sniff it? As that will make the smell more bearable. Drag a blanket off the bed and wrap it around yourself to make you warmer and try listening to music to drown out the noise.

Is there anywhere that you can go during the day to get away from the noise and the dust? Don't want to nag you but you need to eat, you will fade away if you stick to crispbread and fresh air.

Sorry am on a flying visit as I have to go out soon because I am due to have a makeover:j Otherwise I would stop and chat more.

Hope they finish the work soon.

Thanks Horace, no nowhere to go unfortunately plus this company have a rule that someone has to be in the property while they work due to insurance reasons etc. Thanks for the tip for perfume I've put some on a tissue like you said and it seems to be helping a little. Unfortunately he just came across an old redundant chimney stack in the wall (this house was built in 1890!) and he smashed it open and soot has just filled my hall even the guys choking probably 80 year old soot! Oh well he's going in a couple of hours I will maybe try eat something out tonight at the O2 I am going to go I love Keane and we've booked a wheelchair spot so don't want to waste it. Thanks for your help hope your makeover went well.

    Hi everyone,

I'm a tad later than usual today, as I had a roug night last night (another flippin' nightmare).

TaBunny I hope you enjoy yourself tonight; it'll do you the world of good to get out, and getting something to eat there would be a very good idea, as obviously your kitchen is something of a disaster zone at present.
It all reminds me of when we had the bathroom replaced - it was awful! I just had to keep reminding myself that each day was one day nearer the end of the ordeal.
I have to admit, I had to Google Keane - totally unfamiliar to me, but from what I can make out, you're in for a great evening.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Well I am back from the makeover which was fab and to be honest I treated myself to some of the products as well. The artistic director gave me loads of tips and even showed me how to put makeup on simply (having no sight in one eye makes life difficult), although he did moan at me "madam must exfoliate" (who has time for that nonsense? ) I live on Pears Soap & water. Still I look one million times better and don't recognise myself in the mirror - now I am wondering if I will be able to sleep standing up as I don't want to take it off:rolleyes:

Hope you have a fab time tonight TaBunny and sorry to hear about the ton of soot that is coating your home.

    Was Keane FAB!!!!
I'm slightly envious, but as I am not good in crowds I'll content myself with their CD.
So there is Keane on for the cafe, all day.
A Keane Fest... obviously a mute button for those who require it...
plus lots of virtual goodies... at the moment I'll have toasted teacakes please. Oh and a pot of gorgeous coffee.
I have now got over jet lag and have become acclimatised to 26 degrees and lots of curry.

we all do, it's just a very long twisty corner with many other turns and hills in the way - never mind the cafe is well run, well stocked and a pleasant place to chat (says he just skipping in and out with a hot coffee and a doughnut)..
