Just popping in to wish everyone a very merry christmas :santa2: :xmassign:

Allydowd - Wow, I'm really impressed with your bravery at tackling car repairs, however large or small the job is. Doing anything beyond tyre pressures, changing bulbs and topping up fluid levels scares me silly :o .

    Merry Christmas to you to.

Just want to add that the thing about car repairs is that if you are going to do it you have to research every job well and be blinking careful! And if it's a big job I do the repair, drive it to the garage at the bottom of the road give them a fiver and ask them to check it's in full working order.

I'm still having Lemsip Christmas. However DD1 and OH are taking us to France tomorrow for the afternoon.
You can curl up in the back seat, Mother!
    So I shall.
Meanwhile I hope everyone is at least having/recovering from/planning a wonderful time.
The cafe has lots of Lemsip for those that need the Festive Cheer!

Ooh, where is everyone? I guess most folks are still sleeping off their Xmas dinner.:D I've only just surfaced myself - very tired, despite having a very quiet time at home, just Mr LW and me.

Made my first ever attempt at Tomato Bread. I must've done something right, as the second loaf is nearly gone.:p

Mr LW is back at work today, and on late shift to boot, so I'm on my own indoors. Hope everyone is OK, and starting to not need the Lemsip any more.

Yawn morning peeps. Silly me stayed up and watched a scary film tonight and now I daren't go to bed:eek:

Sorry to hear that folks have been on the lemsip instead of the brandy - thankfully I have had the flu already this year and don't want it again. There was a silly woman in the pharmacy this morning who was coughing and spluttering, she demanded something for her cough and said that she had suffered for more than 3 weeks so the pharmacist told her to go to and see her GP although she did buy some expectorant cough mixture - I stayed as far away from her as possible and made sure that I covered my nose and mouth.

I am heading off to Spain next month - I eventually got around to using the £160 flight voucher that I won in January (I have to use it by 3rd Jan 09) so I booked a week in Alicante where my OH has a flat (or rather it belongs to his aged dad who spends most of his time flitting about) - I am going on 9 Jan for a week. I know it won't be hot and that it may be cold but I just don't care. The flight voucher has paid for me and OH to go and all I have had to pay for is my hold luggage and the fact that I prebooked window seats on both the outgoing and return trips.

Oooh Wolfie - did you mention tomato bread? I love it with cheese. I made two quiches this afternoon only I did them wrong I meant to put in egg yolks only and not whites but by the time I had remembered it was too late:rolleyes: I fried some posh bacon bits that I picked up in Tesco the other day for 88p, an onion from the 6 that I bought today that cost me 40p, the pastry cases were 74p each (I know I could make them but I am hopeless at pastry), I found some cheese in the fridge and I got some cream too and the remainder of that is going to be used for the tin of asda peaches that my mum gave me (some smart price ones). I cannot quite believe that I got all domesticated.

We had a wonderful day yesterday in France. We caught the 11am ferry. The sun was out, the sea was calm, the ferry was excellent. I had been bundled into the back seat with copious amounts of Lemsip and tissues, plus duvet. Eyes were streaming so couldn't have driven even if I'd wanted to.
Everywhere was frosted over -3 outside, but sunny. We bimbled along the coast to Cap Gris Nez where OH and DD1 ventured into the sand dunes for a breath of air. I remained under the duvet, needless to say.
Went into Boulogne and they went round the supermarche for bits and bobs (OK some alcoholic beverages:rolleyes::rolleyes:). I coldn't manage the walk round so sat next to a lady in the cafe who was telling me about the discount vouchers and how they had to be used up by 6th January etc. I don't think she stopped for breath for five minutes chattering. Then we went to the Pizza Pai which is daughter's favourite place and they ate a whole mountain of salad and pizza. I managed some salad and iced tea, followed by Lemsip.
It was a lovely day. Also my M.E. was not in evidence as I was actually feeling OK tiredness-wise, though terribly bunged up with a cold. I must admit I would rather have a bunged up nose than M.E.:confused:
Virtual Brandy to go with my Lemsip please.....

Glad you had a jolly day out in France despite the lemsip - hope you start to feel better soon. I admit that I have never had lemsip and have no idea what it is like, I tend to drink hot blackcurrant (cordial I get from Lidl) and then I will drink cloudy lemonade also from Lidl.

I have just come back from a shopping trip - there are so many loons on the road today, I was following a tractor and giving it plenty of room plus I wanted to see if I could see around it so that I could overtake but the road didnt allow it (blind corners and hills) but the nincompoop behind me decided he had had enough of crawling behind me and the tractor so he suddenly swung out and accelerated past me and ended up hitting a car head on as it drove over the brow of the ill:rolleyes: Needless to say the police and ambulance were called and I had to tell the police what had happened. Then I set off again and part way home on another hill there was another smash just below the brow of the hill - some idiot must have lost control and hit a bmw head on - the bmw didnt seem too badly damaged but the other car (fiat I think) was completely smashed - it just seemed to have disintigrated:rolleyes: the police were in attendance and I had to take care when overtaking again because I was below the brow of the hill. I am glad to be home.

I think I will put some lunch on - quiche, soup, pizza, coffee, chocolate, gluhwein and brandy.

Sounds like you all had a good time M.E. I think I'd rather have a cold too as at least you know it will pass eventually.

We had a good christmas even though I slept through a lot of it (delayed reaction to the stress of being left in such a muddle me thinks :o ). My partner bought me a digital SLR camera so I've been trying to get to grips with all the jargon and functions it has ........ and DS has already asked if he can have my point and shoot digital camera!

On the downside of everything, I've just re-homed my dog which is a terrible wrench, but I know he's gone to the best people who will give him the life he needs and deserves. I am a staunch believer that a dog is for life, but I couldn't give my dog the life he needed and I'd planned for him, because of my problems and that has been so hard to come to terms with. It may seem a bad time of year to re-home him and this was talked about in great depth with all parties concerned. I also believe that if you love something enough, you let it go and the new keepers are so well suited to my boy that I think it would be wrong not to give him this chance of a better life. I'd already turned down some unsuitable prospective owners and the people who now have him fit every criteria I was hoping for - the timing just is impeccable. He is now owned by his breed's national Welfare society overall so if anything goes wrong (god forbid) with his new keepers, he will return to the safety of the society. He will be trained on to do the work his breed does and he also now has doggie-friends too which I'm certain will help him along. Before my health took the turn it has, I rescued him as an un-ruly pup, who'd no idea about living in a house, didn't want any interaction with people - and that's for starters. It's a small consolation to know that the professionals of his breed believe him to be well enough trained to go to higher levels. I will miss him so much, but the people have said they will send photos of him "at work" once he's fully trained and we may even get to see him at country shows and game fayres as the guy does displays with his dogs. Needless to say really that my new camera came in very handy and I've managed to take some really good pics of my dog's last few days with us. My neighbour came round with a bunch of flowers yesterday, as she said she knew I'd be really upset about it all and she knew how much my boy meant to me - I'm so touched by that. Sorry for such a ramble - I just miss him so much even though I know it was the right thing to do for him in the long run.

I haven't made a new years resolution yet, but think it will include something along the lines spending the spare time I'll now have doing things I've wanted to do but not had energy to give time to, such as painting and drawing. My OT has said I need to do some creative stuff too so seems a good idea.

I think I'll have a large hot chocolate with whipped cream and dash of brandy and just sit by the window to watch the birds for a while.

OMG Horace!!!!!!!!!!! I'm speechless as to what to say .... apart from what total idiots ... and I'm glad you weren't hurt.

    Hi everyone.

Ooh, OUCH I am HURTING big time today. Been baking all morning. Well, OK, going in the kitchen, doing a bit, and sitting back in the living room for a while, back out to the kitchen, do a bit more, and so on.... I have cheese, tomato and Quorn quiche, apple pie and mincemeat tart in the oven as I type. But my back has really taken a hammering. I've already hit the morphine bottle. I hate taking it this early, but hey ho, that's what it's there for.

Horace:eek::eek::eek: that'd put me off driving forever I think.

((((Bluedog)))) you good and brave person, putting the woofer's needs first.

M.E have you considered buying shares in Lemsip? :DOnly kidding - I hope you're getting better.

Please forgive me if I skip table-wiping duty today - I'll do extra later on, I promise. It's so good that the virtual brandy doesn't interfere with our meds - I'll have a large one please.:o
