I got this unit last week, very impressed, plays Divx Files with no problem. Only thing I have noticed is that the unit is quite loud when playing / recording but for £80, I will not complain.
Also anyone have any problems finalising discs on the unit?0 -
Only problem I had was using a DVD +R (not RW) and I over ran the recording -it didn't stop and finalise the disk itself - really screwed up the disk (and a film I was recording!). However, have the new firmware now and not tested this again - so maybe fixed.0

any stores in northern ireland keep this in stock ?
will it play xvid also ?0 -
Been looking all over the web but not found any mention if this item supports Packed Bitstream when playing xvid files. Does anyone have any experience?0

I bought this unit tonight. Using multiregion hack as posted by bobauilda I tapped in exactly as he said. Nothing at all appeared on the screen as he said it would however turning off the unit then powering it up again proved that the hack worked. I then successfully downloaded and installed the firmware hack. On rebooting the unit I found that I was no longer multiregional. I tried the hack again but it didn't work.
This unit is going back to Tescos I think. it is incredibly noisy and I haven't been able to tune in the tv channels properly. The picture quality from these is atrocious. Also I have an NTL set top box and the recorder has not found it. The manual talks about 'terrestrial channels' but there is no mention of digital apart from a slight mention about a digibox. So I can't play multi-region discs and I can't record from NTL. All in all a total waste of time and money! Be warned!Ne illegitimi carbunculi tibi in facie sint0 -
Can you use this model to copy one dvd to another using another dvd player? If so, how?
Also, does it tape off sky?
Thanks0 -
I have this recorder and its FAB! Did the multiregion hack - you have to do it exactly otherwise it don't work! Did it after the upgrade and I'm watching DVD's from USA and Europe. Finds all my TV channels -and SCART and everything else - I think its a FAB one and I have nowt to do with TESCO!!
Maybe MONTY58 you have a duff one? Well worth £78 - in fact - just bought my dad one too!
To copy DVDs plug the SCART from the DVD player into the DVD recorders scart. Press play on the DVD player and Record on the recorder and Roberts your relative and fanny is a rude word!
Same idea with SKY - I know 'cause I've DVD'd loads of stuff for my son (CBBC etc.) so he can watch it when I'm watching SKY. Its well worth the money!0 -
Everyone seems very happy with this machine except me! Could be I do have a duff one but all my problems seem to have come from this Yamada firmware upgrade that I installed - is there any way to undo this? Restore factory settings? Has anyone found a cheapie recorder that will record from NTL without any hassle?Ne illegitimi carbunculi tibi in facie sint0
