Moany - they have little scrapbooking and photo album kits in Poundland quite often, might be worth a look in there, and often there are offers on the printed photo books listed on grabbit, you could try a search on there.
Candy - I have a list of questions prepared, have spoken to a couple of parents who weren't even aware what was happening, we have never been told officially that the children aren't having a qualified teacher on Wednesdays! I just can't even see the reasoning behind it as they currently only have 70 odd pupils (not odd in that way, tho some are, my dd3 especially lol), and have 2 full time teachers and one who is there for 3 days a week, visiting music and french teachers, and a head who is MEANT to teach. I'm sure we will hear some interesting ideas and reasoning later, I shall report back and be asking for yours and I think it was Annie's views.
Thriftlady - can I ask where you got your pastes from, they sound lovely and would make a fantastic pressie for dd2.
Was going to make some more pickle but the smell is too much now, will put this lot in jars in a mo. Going to go and get some jobs done in town now and then drop money in at dd's school, got more lock n lock boxes from morries on my list, I will have organised cupboards rather than packs kept closed by pegs lol!
Edit: Annie, I used to live in Brighton and still visit a lot,if I can help let me know, also a couple of peeps on here live very close to it so will prob be able to help if you are stuck, redruby and squiggley come to mind.GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Hi all. Just reporting that a new Wednesday market has started up in our village; I went to suss it out this morning and it's really good. Despite the wet weather, lots more people were in the village - made parking a bit difficult but we still have free parking so I won't complain. I found the fruit and veg a good deal cheaper than the supermarkets and will be buying mine from there from now on.
I have three large red onions in the Remoska for soup for lunch today. It smells lovely. I just added a handful of lentils, a small knob of butter, some garlic, Herbs de Provence, my magic all-purpose seasoning (Natco's) and some stock. I'll blend it when it's cooked and reckon I'll get enough for at least six portions - two for today because DH will be home for lunch and the rest for the freezer.
I am making bread and am very grateful for a poster - not a regular on this thread, although I have asked her to join us! - pm'ing me to answer my question about getting loaves out of the loaf tins. She suggested magic liner, which I already had in the cupboard, cut to size and it has worked a treat.
I just want to send (((hugs))) to Anniestar.
I haven't read all the thread today but will catch up later.

Good morning, woah strike that good afternoon everyone,:rotfl:
It seems some of you have been up since the crack of dawn!! I myself slept in til 10 then had a 'kitkat' breakfast so I still feel really sluggish and sleepy. Not very OS, i know.
Got the hoovering to do, then mop the downstairs. Its really dark here 'cause its raining, quite depressing.
Soaked the labels off some jam jars yesterday, so i can use them as budgeting jars. All the bills are Direct debits but grocery, petrol and 'fun' money can go in the jars. This will stop us from getting the cards out of our pockets every 5 minutes and losing track of where the money went.
Didn't have much luck with my biscuits yesterday but i did read that you should mix egg white with the icing sugar, maybe this will make it set? Will try later on.
I hope my homemade Christmas is going to work, I have started now making announcements to friends and family that they are getting HM presents because the in-laws will still buy us loads of stuff and then say through gritted teeth that they 'really like these biscuits, we get ours from Tescos, why don't you?' etc:rolleyes:Goals: Have a Homemade Christmas 2008, lose a 1 and a half stone, be thankful for everything I have.

Had you thought of getting a plain photo album from a pound shop and then covering it with pretty material or lace or velvet etc to make it look special?
You could get something like a blouse or skirt in the material that you want for a pound from a charity shop and cut it up for the album or home made Christmas stocking etc.
I did this a couple of years ago, got an albumn for £1, found a remnant of silk curtain material at Dunelm, I quilted it, but you could make a straight cover, its quite easy to do. It was a present for a friend who usually bought very expensive albumns, last time we went to see her she showed it to us, she had filled it with photos of her daughters wedding................
We have recently had the council install a wet room with a new toilet and wash basin. Determined to keep the lime scale down in the toilet I came up with the following.
From Tesco get a washup sponge on a handle, the one you can fill with washing up liquid. Fill it with white vinegar and scrub round under the rim of the toilet and down round the 's' bed, keeps your hands out of the water. Pressing down on the sponge releases the vinegar and the scrubber loosens the limesale which you can then flush away. Yo can buy the replacement sponges when they wear out.
We love our new wet room, but one thing really bugs me, they have replaced a dual flush toilet with a single flush, I wonder what the thinking is behind this???????Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -

Afternoon darlings!
Woken early-ish by the mad catfighting with another one over ownership of the cat flap! Not sure if the other cat was trying to get in or whether he was just innocently passing the front door when Treacle wanted to go out, but either way there was growling and hissing and a lot of the cat flap banging back and forth. She kept growling for ages and sitting with her ears flat back at the cat flap even after the other cat had left. She was so loud!
Rummer and puss14! Good to have you with us
gtx - thank you for posting and come back soon hon!
mad_cash_cow - hope you survived the curry!!
Glitterycloud - Aww your puppy sounds so cute, but I think classes are a good idea or your life will be miserable. If he thinks he is leader of the pack you will never get him under control bless him..
Sunny - a friend and I used to dry bay leaves 'instantly' in the microwave - about 5 to 10 secs per leaf I think and they were done!
Essex and Smokey *hugs*to you both
MrsM - good to see you here too.
I spent a lovely time threading my chilli peppers onto cat gut and hanging it in my bedroom window to dry out (we hope!). I have taken a pic and will post later (or tomorrow)as it looks soooooo cute!
Went through all the cupboards and freezer last night (well the OH did and I wrote it all down) as I get so confused after a few weeks crossing things out and then adding new when we shop, so wanted to start again! I know I should do it online as it would be easier, but I am a pen and paper kind of girl!
Cooked one of the M & S *free food* chickens last night so had chicken wings for supper and the rest will be cooked today once I have settled on a recipe I fancy.
Tidying up the freezer means we have half a draw that is empty so I am already planning what to fill it with!!
*hugs*to all who need them and congratulations to anyone who is celebrating today.

Great to see Thriftlady back - you are my hero:D
And mine! am always so enthused by all posts (will shut up now before Thriftlady thinks she's being stalked)
Breakfast was omlettes with HM bread and fruit
Lunch boxes contain HM cheese topped scones, fruit, HM sponge cake, carrot sticks
Dinner will be HM vegetable soup with HM foccacia, followed by apple crumble and HM yogurt.
Remoska has been/will be used to cook most of the above. This has saved me an absolute fortune in two ways - oven was on it's way out and getting more and more unreliable and the electricity usage has dropped like a stone.
Am planning to spend the afternoon in the bath - I usually just have quick showers but DD1 is getting married on Saturday so want to do a bit of work on myself (oh OK - a lot of work which is why it will take all afternoon!). Will probably read my book for [strike]an absolute age[/strike] just a little while whilst I am soaking.;):DPeople Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading
