This is the usual condition I get when recordings fail in standby. Any recordings timed before the time of lock-up are successful but those later are not.

HELP!!!! Bought the aerial and put it in the right things but I can't get the PVR to do anything - the tv works with the aerial so it isn't that but when I put the aerial into the PVR and switch it on, just four dashes appear on the display and then when I switch to AV some zeroes appear. Is it something simple do you think or should I re-box and take it back. I'm so not techie that I can't be dealing with anything really complicated. Have looked on the thread but can't see anyone having same problem. Many thanks if anyone can help. There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.0

Turn the PVR off for a good 10 seconds then swich it back on.
You should hear the hard disk spin up and the display on the front of the PVR should say "boot" for a few seconds. (does it?)
If this happens, then make sure you have the SCART cable plugged in from the PVR to the TV and press the "menu" button on the PVR remote control. anything happen?0 -

Yeah, I like it too or I wouldn't have put the energy into documenting the issues. Mine won't go back unless the 20th fails to deliver the promised fix for the NS errors.creddish wrote:That makes two of us then

Hi Lorian, thanks to you again. Done the above, did eventually get it to say boot, and heard the noise. Pressed menu button but nothing happens, again four blanks on the PVR display and no signal getting to TV.There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.0 -
I think I've found a new problem. The power went off for a very short period (2 seconds or so) and the PVR101 went into "first time installation" mode. At the end of this, it's software level had reverted back to V.1.0(UK)D and I can't see any way of getting back the updated 1.1 level. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas how I can get the 1.1 level back? It could be disastrous if you lose all updates after a power blip.
UPDATE - panic over. I decided to try switching off for the usual 10 seconds and when I switched back on again, it again did a "first time installation", at the end of which, it had gone back to V.1.1(UK)D. PHEW - I didn't fancy getting all those hard drive problems all over again.0 -

Just to confirm, you have the SCART cable from the PVR to the TV and have selected video-in on the TV (usually video button or channel 0)?
IIRC the display shows dashes until the boxes had done the first time install and managed to set-up channels/time - can anyone remember if this is true?0 -

The 4 blanks on the display could be accounted for by the fact that you have not yet managed to complete the First Time Installation described on page 12 of the manual. It may be that the PVR is waiting for you press OK to start the Automatic Installation but for some reason you are not able to see this instruction on your TV. You could just try pressing OK at this point and wait a while (several minutes) to see if the display on the PVR front panel changes to 001 indicating it has succesfully tuned in the channels and is displaying Channel 1 (BBC1). If this is so, I would suggest that you check your connections to the TV and that your TV is selecting the correct AV input. I note from an earlier post that you have only one SCART connector on the TV you are using so unless you have other AV inputs this should not be a problem, but worth checking. Have you checked that you have connected the "TV Out" SCART (i.e. not the "VCR in" SCART) to the TV?
Try the above and report back.

Sorry Lorian, I see you have already replied0 -
Hi and thank you both for your time and help. I have checked the scart and it is as set up in the manual and double checked by reading underneath so the scart lead is in the right place - I have also reversed it to see if it was anything to do with that. It boots up but then goes to blanks and I have tried pressing ok but it doesn't seem to register it and nothing happens. Have tried it on AV and channel 0 and 9 and the screen is fuzzy or just blank!!??There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.0

Sorry, but I have to ask this to check - Did you put the batteries in the remote control? - The red light should light up on the remote when you press any button.
Is there a red light showing on the front of the PVR?
If you point the remote at the front of the PVR and press "POWER" does the light on the front of the PVR go off? You need the red light off before pressing "OK" to do the setup.0
