Was the unit in a lock-up condition when you returned with the clock display showing a time reading before the first recording time? This is the usual condition I get when recordings fail in standby. Any recordings timed before the time of lock-up are successful but those later are not.

My Mother's PVR 101 was one that seemed to be working fine. Too good to be true? 'Fraid so! It has just died completely. No activity, no display, nothing. Monty Python sketches and parrots spring to mind.
Can I do anything with it, such as replace an internal fuse? Any advice from you clever people would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.0 -

I'd be suprised if there isn't an internal fuse, but I can't see one in the photo . My eyesight is not so good though, maybe someone else can.
Have you checked the fuse in the mains plug?
If you do find a blown fuse you have to wonder why it blew...0 -

Forgive me if this offends you, but you do know about the switch on the back of the unit? Assuming you do know do you not even get the purple led on the front panel light up the instant the power switch is operated? This is followed by the start up of the Hard Drive about 10 sec later with "boot" shown on the display.

Hi guys, there is a fuse on the PSU board it is a 2Amp fast blow type, it is situated close to the mains socket on the board.
Regarding the toggle switch on the back panel it is possible that the switch is faulty, try turning it off and on a few times, this may get it working again.
I have solved all my problems with the PVR101, I have replaced it with a
Topfield TF-5800 PVR.
I'm off to Aldi to get my money back....

It has a 12 month warranty.
There's also the option to ring the warranty company and get it fixed/replaced if it's faulty. If the OP wants to do this and can't get through to the helpdesk then PM me and I can give some contact details.0 -

Do you think it is realistic to get a replacement? I would be surprised if Aldi would do that even if they still have any units. Posters have indicated in recent posts that Key don't have any either.
I have not given up on this unit yet. From recent discussion on Digital Spy it has become evident that this box has some nice features that no others have in total. It has shortcomings of course in addition to the bugs but on balance I like it.

Sorry, I must have missed those posts (link?). I still think the OP should contact key for advice he wants to keep it though, as for sure Aldi will just refund.creddish wrote:I have not given up on this unit yet. Mine won't go back unless the 20th fails to deliver the promised fix for the NS errors.
That makes two of us then
