AIRFORCE wrote:Am I a lucky one??? I bought the pvr101 2 weeks ago and (touch wood) I haven't experienced any of the problems that I've read about in this thread. -- HOWEVER ! -- The problem that I am getting is that with the freeview box in s/by my TV randomly switches to AV2 (this is the one I use for the box) from AV1 (which I use for my connection to NTL cable service). If I switch the AV connections then the problem is reversed -- randomly switching to AV1 from AV2. ---- any suggestions!!!
The PVR101 does randomly start up for a fraction of a second. It's annoying at it's on the buglist (pvr101.blogspot.com).
IF you are happy to only select the PVR manually by changing to the AV1 scart input using your TV's remote control when you want to view the PVR101's output then you could just remove the function switch from the SCART by pushing out or cutting the wire to pin 8 on the SCART cable at the PVR101 end. When turn the PVR on the TV will NOT automatically display it's output.0 -
Thanks, Lorian -- I've got a spare scart lead that I can modify. As I haven't had any other problems I am very pleased with the PVR101.0

Actually it might be worth turning off "automatic software updates" for a day or two first, and see if that stops it. I can't recall seeing one of these annoying switch-overs happen since I turned them off but it may just be co-incidence.0 -

Cheers--I'll give that a try first.0 -

I can't remember all that was said about this issue previously. Is it the case that the PVR will come out of standby at the start of any recordings that have been scheduled? If this is the case then the SCART switching signal will be generated at this time?

Hi Colin, Sorry for the delay - I had to sign off at work and get home.
No, it's just when the pvr is left in s/by and I'm watching something via my NTL cable system. Randomly the TV will switch to AV2 (pvr101 conection) and display the TV's 'no signal' message -- the pvr101 will still be in s/by. It has only happened since connecting the pvr101 into my system.0 -
Anyone had this happen -
I completely filled the hard disk this evening and the last recording was BBC1's The Virgin Queen for my wife.
Guess what happened - the disk now shows five nil duration recordings for The Virgin Queen numbered 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5, timed at 1 minute intervals at just before 10pm, all 20+ recordings previously on the disk have disappeared and there is only 50MB left on the disk - any ideas anyone???? - GRRRRR.
Is this yet another fault?
Thanks
Eric
PS - I'm in deep doo-doo with the wife now - where can I find her programme on the Web?

Following on from the above . . .
This morning I had a few hours left on the disk, recorded the skiing the morning on Channel Four, Ski Sunday this afternoon on BBC and then my wife asked me at one minute to 9 pm to record The Virgin Queen on BBC1 which was one hour long.
I didn’t have a chance to see how much space there was on the disk but I set it to record anyway.
When I went to watch the BBC Ski Sunday programme at about 11pm, all that is listed when I press the play button is five recordings from 10:54pm to 10:59pm (not one at 10:57) all of zero minutes duration. The amount of free space is shown as 50 [MB], time 00:02 [H:M].
I’ve just been checking the machine out and it seems that the disk space ran out at 10:53 and at that point the machine rebooted, then as it still had time left to record, it kept trying but was forced into a reboot each time until the timer ran out. At some point in this sequence it appears to have deleted all the previous recordings.
I have just tried to record using the pause button with a full disk and initially it came up with a warning to say that disk space was low and then did a quick reboot. When I tried again with the pause button it just went straight into a reboot. I also tried with the record button and it left a zero size recording on the list. I also tried from the EPG and again it rebooted.
On a couple of the reboots it came back with the volume set at 50% and one time instead of dialogue there was just a hissing sound from the speakers - maybe it was getting confused by then.
Anyway I’m quite confident that it has happened and I didn’t manually delete anything, so the only option I have now is to reformat but that will have to wait until this evening. I’ll be interested in anyone's comments.

The PVR101 always seems to set the SCART select high a few minutes before recording starts. I guess it could be changed in the software but it'll be a long way down their list of bugs. The random ones are even more annoying.
AFAIK no one else has reported the disk full problems as of yet. I'll add it to the buglist, it would be nice if someone else can confirm it happens for them too. I'm not in a position to try replicating, as I too would have trouble from the familiy if I loose their programmes!
I'd be just a little wary of buying one of the new digifusion boxes from Argos until someone confirms it isn't actually the same machine as the PVR101 in different clothes. You might be safer with the single tuner model, but I think there is a chance the 145 dual tuner model is the same beast.0
