    Software update

Just loaded the new software update and here are my inital impressions:

    1. 'No Signal' problem appears to be fixed.

    2. 'Re-appearing recordings' seems to be OK too

The first thing I noticed is that the Signal Strength bar now reads about 20% higher than it used to - perhaps they have tweaked the gain of the units front-end?

Do bear in mind that I haven't run the box for long with the new software, but initially the two major gremlins seem to have been fixed.

    Now I'm off to see if I can break it . . . . . . !

  • Signal bar also at 100%.......but slight drop in picture quality. I would have preferred not to have the update now that I have seen the results. I was relatively happy with my machine but it is going back for a refund unless someone can find a way to uninstall the update - what fun!

It seems to have abbreviated the url,

    http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/
    board/showthread.php?t=320642&page=2&pp=25

    (all on one line)
  • Can't fault it yet....Seems to me to have been a large download
If it stays like this, its got to be a real bargain at 100 quid.
I wonder if Aldi will sell there returns any cheaper - worth a try...

    Oh dear!

Had the V1.1 software running - for all of an hour before it decided to revert to the 'No Signal' party trick.

I feel a trip to Aldi coming on :-(

OK, on version 1.1(UK)00. download took 15-20 minutes.

I have only done limited testing so far but this is what I've found thats different/fixed:

    1. update: Still have the dreaded "no signal" error.

    2. Recording a program, instantly turn off, and back on and the programs are still there.

    3. Signal strenght shows 100% not 75% on all channels

    4. Instant record asks you "how long for" now.

    5. Hard disk drive seems to spin down much quicker (less than a minute it seems, I need to try it a few more times)

I cant comment of the "no sound on ITV" becuase I don't use Winter Hill TX.
