    Good luck with the upgrade.

Thanks, but I didn't actually buy (or attempt to buy!) one - I've just been watching this thread with interest.

  • I have the same problem the hard drive keeps spinning once it is started IE when making a recording or on play back The only way I can turn the HD off is to do a reboot, it then runs for a few mins after this then turns off. I wonder with the HD drive running all the time. Would this shorten the life of the hard drive

  • I have now installed mine and fingers crossed everything seems to be fine. I think the reception is not quite as good as my previous Thomson box, but I can put up with that because of ease of recording.

The uprgrade was available from 9am this morning...
Ive also noticed that ITV is working much better than before as the sound comes on straight away when channel is changed.
I didnt bother to see what version it was in the first place. It now says V.1.0(UK)D

I just checked - "no upgrade found".

1.0.(UK)D is still the old version, we are hoping for 1.1 tomorrow.

Thanks for that, for some reason I had it in my head it was available today..
Something has definately happend to it though. When it completed the search it didnt say that none were available.. I never got sound on ITV straight away before as it took a while for the sound to come on...
And I was having trouble with BBCi and now its working ok.
Looks like I will be uprading again tomorrow to see what happens.
Perhaps this machine has a mind of its own and works when it wants to. LOL
  • Hi,
I bought one of these for my girlfriend and am having a problem that I have not seen duplicated in the 51 pages posted so far (eek!). All chanels are received fine and the picture is A-OK but if you are recording one chanel then try and view certain other chanels (eg. chanel 5, E4, More 4 amongst others) then the picture on the chanel being watched (CH.5 etc) becomes corrupted and unwatchable. Hit a button to stop recording and the problem clears and the chanel you are watching is OK again. Basically it takes away the dual tuner feature as it means you can;t reliably watch one chanel whilst recording another.

Anyone else had a problem like this? If you are using both tuners does the signal somehow become weaker? (Signal strength in OSD about 75% at all times).

Any feedback gratefully received (excluding "if you really loved her you would have bought her a TIVO" of course) ;o)

What transimtter are you you using (winter hill?) and are you using a (new/ish) wide band aerial?

    Robstor - I don't have that problem.

Robstor some of the problems have been with poor signals because some transmitters have out of band multiplexes like Winter Hill, requiring a wideband aerial. The software update tomorrow is designed to get over that problem, we shall see.

BUT you may have a faulty receiver, as there is a component problem in some receivers because of a manufacturing assembly glitch.

    Huntshaw Cross and
