I think we should add "Unoffical ALDI/Technosnic/TechnoTrend Beta Testers" to our sigs.
Can you describe the process please to ensure the program index is saved- I've lost everything from Christmas day :xmastree: . I know its in this thread somewhere but I can't find it now. Is it just simply put it into standby for 5 minutes then switch off? Maybe I forgot to do this yesterday

That's what's worked for me so far. The one time I forgot to do this I lost 4 recordings. It's about 5 minutes, I actually listen to make sure I can't hear the disk turning anymore before switching off.0 -

The no-sound problem is not a problem just on the technosonic PVR101, but on several other freeview STB too, mostly with people using the Winter Hill transmitter. I just wonder if its an incompatiility with winter hill tx using an out-of-band filler frequency.
Check "north west" here:

Hopefully the 1.1 release will fix it anyway.0 -
when my PVR101 has been on for awhile then put into standby the hard drive never stops spinning so i am unable to prevent my recordings disappearing!!! have waiting over half an hour and it still spins. when i turn off then on, the drive does stop after a few mins but once its been on awhile it never stops spinning!thanks to everyone who has thanked me!0

...edit: actually trying again, it seems if i do this then put it in standby it does stop spinning. yippee at last, will see if this works all the time. hopefully will keep it working until the software update. if that fails its going back.thanks to everyone who has thanked me!0 -
Very disappointed with my purchase which seemed a bargain at the time!
I bought one of these but had the following issues:
- unable to record two channels while watching one of them which was a feature advertised on the store flier.
- kept getting "no signal " prompt yet my other freeview box worked fine.
- the instruction manual was fairly inadequate.
I'm waiting to walk up to my local store with a view to having a refund.0 -
Today I took my PVR 101 back to Aldi.
The manager said he too had the same problem. No sound on ITV, problem recording due to no signal.
He said he expected them all to be returned to the store.
What does that tell you about this product. He did say that, they allow things to be taken back with no problem.
So if you are unhappy, return for a refund. It's a shame it didn't work as it sounded a great product. Maybe teething problems ?

Some people who purchased it don't know about the software update in 2 days time.
Managers of ALDI are not the best people to ask for tech support.jwoods wrote:So if you are unhappy, return for a refund. It's a shame it didn't work as it sounded a great product. Maybe teething problems ?

I'll wait 'till Thursday to see if the software releases fix it, and if not I look forward to the company's offer to swap the box for a working one, as I like the kit a lot.

There is one feature this machine should have and thats PDC for recordings....
Its happening more and more these days that programs are are starting a minute or two before scheduled start time and when an event is running overtime you either lose the begining or end of your recording.....
This also happens with my sky box when connected to dvd recorder....
My dvd recorder has PDC but its no use when the sky box or even the pvr doesn't whether or not a program has started or running over time.... They just use the times from the tv guide and thats what they stick to..
There were no problems with using PDC with analogue as I always got the whole program regardless of how long it overun for..0
