Try googling for PDC and Freeview and you'll find an interesting DigitalSpy thread.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

If people are prepared to try this and then maybe wait for a 'swap-out' later in January, then fair enough.
I took mine back, although I would have loved to keep it as it looks nice and if it had worked correctly, would have been excellent value for money.
I'll wait until Aldi get the MkII version in stock later in the year. Hopefully.

Managers of ALDI are not the best people to ask for tech support.
I'll wait 'till Thursday to see if the software releases fix it, and if not I look forward to the company's offer to swap the box for a working one, as I like the kit a lot.

FROM J Woods
I took it back because having spoken to an engineer they tell me it's NOT so simple to fix the problem. Aldi have had hundreds of these machines returned, What does that tell you ?
I really did like this product and was sad to return it. If anyone knows of a similar product can they please let me know.

But you can also wait for the update and then immediately take it back if it still doesn't work. The update won't invalidate Aldi's returns policy.
And of course the update might not cure all the problems, but there's no reason to believe there won't be future updates, too.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
Try this if you get the NO SIGNAL error message:
Timeshift (> 5 secs) and the picture appears, FF to current time and you get the picture superimposed with the NO SIGNAL message. However, there is no sound but I haven't had to wait very long before the sound returns. It may be that the return of the sound would have coincided with the return of the picture/sound had I not used Timeshift.
I lost 11 recordings yesterday! The PVR had been in standby for 30 mins and the HD was still spinning so I rebooted ..... and lost them ..... arrrrrgh. I'll try R2-D2's tip (post #486) next time the HD fails to stop.0 -

Key say that if the problems are not fixed by Thursdays update they will carry on with the originally proposed box swap. So far there seems no reason to disbelieve them.jwoods wrote:Aldi have had hundreds of these machines returned, What does that tell you ?0 -

Well, if this or some future software update does micraculously fix the problems there are bound to be a lot of "just like new" bargain refurb units on the market sometime in the new year, as they try to offload the returns.0 -
UPDATE REPEAT
FYI, according to the DTG site, the software update scheduled for the 29 - 31 December is to be repeated from 6 - 9 January.
Like a lot of people on here, I'm going to hang on and see how the new software performs - if it flies like a lead balloon, the box will go back.0 -

For me, 'lifes too short' and I need to move on and revisit the PVR idea in a month or two.
Good luck with the upgrade.

Might be a chance for an 'excellent' bargain.
