  • I have the PVR 101 and it:

    Has no sound on ITV
    Has "no signal" issues
Locks up - unit doesn't respond to remote
Has my wife saying "well, you get what you pay for"

What is the update going to fix?

I know I've repeated myself here but does not seem to get any replies yet - has anyone spoken to them why the subtitles were not recorded either in live TV or an actual recorded programme? Will this be fixed in the update? I don't want to end up calling them if someone else has already enquired about this.

    Otherwise I'll ring them...

I may be wrong here, but I dont think I am..
Subtitles come from teletext. This box only records from the TV signal and will not record from interactive services or teletext.

Yeah but I read somewhere else other PVR boxes DO record them as a seperate stream and play together when the recorded material is played again.

I understand the Humax do this....

Well, I've just spoken to a very helpful guy on the Technosonic helpdesk and given him my details etc.

Obviosly the OTA update is their first attempt at a fix, but I can't see it fixing my missing-tuner fault!

Anyway, it's logged now, in case it needs to be swapped out in January.

Xmas Eve and there was someone on duty to accept calls.......
Anyway, yes a very friendly guy who took contact number and gave me
    some confidence..

    Happy Xmas to all, Peter

They don't know what is in the update, they do of course hope it will fix a/some/all* problems. Expecting extra functionality in a first patch is expecting too much though IMHO, so another box may be better if this functionality is important to you. It's not long to wait 'till the 29th to find out.

*delete as appropriate depending on how optomistic you feel.

I'm annoyed I lost 4 recordings yesterday. Try telling a 6 year their Christmas programmes have been lost

Yes, im getting a bit frustrated.
It recorded the Simpsons yesterday at 18:00 on C4 no problems (via EPG).
I watched it start and stop to record (again via EPG) Jonathan Ross and Extras last night, but this morning, they are not there!
It seems to be an issue either with late night recordings or BBC recordings, as my recordings of Extras on BBC2 all weeks have failed (at 11:25 pm).

I didnt put the machine into standby, i leave it on all the time.
I think im going to have to manually record stuff over christmas!
(but im still prepared to hang on for the swap out).
  • The PVR8000T seems good - 7% off using quidco and amex. Reviews seem good too. But does it offer recording on one channel and watching another?
    This signature is not mine!

I think its only single tuner, but you could use it with another freeview box or idtv.
