Do you have any details about the 'standby bug' and, more importantly, is it possible to recover from it?
My machine put itself into standby last night and now wont boot up when switched on.
(when I switch on I can hear the hard disk start up for a fraction of a second and then stop)
I'm pretty sure there's nothing physically wrong with it.
I've opened the box up, disconnected the IDE cable to the drive and it spins up as normal when powered up.
It seems too much of a coincidence for it to have broken around the same time as the update!!
Also, has anyone tried returning stuff to ALDI without a receipt?
I lost mine ages ago but might be able to find payment in my bank records.
Cheers PJ
(just glad I caught up with a few recordings of Torchwood last night)0 -

I think power-off and on should do it, but I don't know the specifics, someone here will, if you are still having problems:

1.9 software update *hopefully* scheduled for download tomorrow. This should apply to the PVR101 and all the subsequent clones.0

Mine had downloaded an update but as I hadn't read about it I didn't install. What's the verdict?0

I took my faulty Technosonic PVR back to Aldi last week, together with my bank details showing the credit card transaction and also the credit card receipt. At first they refused a refund as I did not have the other receipt that listed the PVR. Cutting the story short, I went home and managed to telephone their area manager, explaining the fault condition and the circumstances, also making the point that only Aldi sold these items, and only sold the 80G version last June. He agreed with me and I met him at the store later and received a cash refund, an apology and a bottle of port as compensation for having to make 2 special trips.:T0

I've had a new problem over the last couple of days. I set to record Radio 6 at 4a.m. on Thursday morning. In the recorded programmes list it came up as Chris Hawkins (Correct) BBC Asian Network (Wrong) but it had actually recorded BBC 5 Live. Today I set for a programme on 5Life and it recorded Tracey Beaker on CBBC. This is really irritating, it recorded okay last night from BBC1 but I need to know I can trust it. I have retuned today so I need to do a few more recordings to see what happens now.
