I dont know if you are taking this info from the advertising blurb but it could be that Aldi are trying to mislead us again.

If you take a look at this post from last year when the PVR101 was released
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=1215437&postcount=7 - Aldi used the same "can record two channels at once" line to describe the PVR101 which can only record one channel at a time (though technically you can view a second channel and record using the timeshift function - but only for immediate viewing as the recording cant be saved)

My apologies if you have confirmation that you can record two channels - I would be very interested to know if this is the case.

    Cheers
Hi Niggy. I must admit the same thought crossed my mind as I was typing my post. You could be right of course. However, this time the Aldi website also says it's "Twin tuners allow you to watch one channel whilst recording another, or record two channels at the same time". IIRC last time they changed the website entry to be correct although they still had the leaflets in store with the error in it. Also there has been posts on Digital Spy about it. One from a member of the Tevion Helpline team (for the Tevion PVR801) who has been forcasting that Tevion would be releasing an updated PVR with dual record and software to update existing models to the same spec. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=10668091&postcount=44 . Also see post here from a relaible source IMO:- http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=11616089&postcount=3 . Taking all this info together I'm convinced it is a true dual record PVR. Whether it will actually work is another matter??? ;)

My box has decided to give me a green tinge to my picture and no sound. Any suggestions, preferably without losing my recorded programmes?? If not I'll just be in time to return it to Aldi.

Have you checked the output SCART lead?

It must be updated software because it provides dual recording capability.

I don't have one, but I'm told it reports version 1.7
  • I was first at aldi on sunday and got one loads left, got home and it was scratched. Couldnt ring them so by time I got to aldi there was none left. Managed to get another from a store miles away, got it home and it too was scratched.
When i set it up all it did on bbc 1 and 2 was reboot all the time. Thats all it does so all that time wasted, now off to get my money back

Why do aldi sell crap, this is the fourth item I have had to return, a plasma, a lcd tv, a remote and now this.

Also there was a dog hair in my box and I dont have a dog so thinks they may be refurbs with new packaging.

If it's like the 101 they all look scratched until you peel the protective sheet off the face. It has a near-mirror finish!

Better still it's version 1.8 and it's provisionally scheduled on the 8th for the following models:

    Technosonic PVR101, Tevion PVR801 & Tevion PVR1620

Maybe worth following the effects of Version 1.8 on the Tevion PVR1620 before risking spoiling your Technosonic PVR101 or your Tevion801. See relevant threads on Digital Spy (it is likely a new thread will be started on there for this update).

Heh, if mine fails I have extended warranty :-)

Don't forget, 1.8 is available to load today, and someone has already confirmed it does add dual record to the PVR101.

For an overview of people's findings see http://pvr101.blogspot.com
