Anyone managed to record from Five US or Five Life yet, with a PVR 101?
Mine doesn't want to - it lets me program a recording and cancel one BUT never actually records anything.
Been recording the Stephen King programme since it started, so yes it works for me. Sometimes doing a channel rescan will fix the non-recording problem, or (best of all) a manual search using your known local digital channels (since you might be picking up a dodgy signal from elsewhere).

BTW has everyone remembered to fix their current timers? They'll all be one hour early due to the switch from BST and the braindead way the timer info is saved.

That's strange. I had several recordings which I set up last Friday before the time change and were due to be recorded after the time change on Sunday and today. There was also a daily repeat schedule which was set up at the beginning of last week. All the recordings took place at the correct time. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that I never put my unit into standby?

All my weekly timers have worked fine too.

I think this was one of the problems that got fixed. I don't recall for sure though.
  • On Saturday I had set a timer for a programme on channel 4 at 1.40a.m. which finished at 2.00. The timer however kept changing to record the programme which came on at 1.40 AFTER the change back (i.e. 2.40 BST) as they were both listed as 1.40. Eventually I just set it manually for 1.40 and it worked okay but to be on the safe side I set it to finish at 1.59. As it happened I was still up so if it hadn't worked I could have done a manual record.

It might be because I had to reboot mine (due to it locking up with "PLAY" in the display when attempting to play a recording).

But I remember exactly the same kind of problem last time the clocks changed in the spring. Of course, could have been after a reboot again...

Mine’s also been doing that a lot recently R2. First time I go into recordings and select one to play it freezes when I press “OK” or “Play” – requiring a re-boot. It seems to do it a lot less if I press the red button to continue play and I’m pretty sure it's never done it if the machine has played a recording once in any session.
Have a full hard-drive of recordings – so cant decide whether to return mine before the warranty runs out!!

Well, now, Lorian, have they fixed the software on the 160GB version??? Or is it being launched with version 1.6?

It must be updated software because it provides dual recording capability.

I dont know if you are taking this info from the advertising blurb but it could be that Aldi are trying to mislead us again.

If you take a look at this post from last year when the PVR101 was released
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=1215437&postcount=7 - Aldi used the same "can record two channels at once" line to describe the PVR101 which can only record one channel at a time (though technically you can view a second channel and record using the timeshift function - but only for immediate viewing as the recording cant be saved)

My apologies if you have confirmation that you can record two channels - I would be very interested to know if this is the case.

    Cheers
