Just did the snowball calculator and my official debt free date is May 2014. I definitely want to cut that. I want it all gone by June 2010. Looks like I have a lot of work to do to get it reduced down to that.

Just wanted to say hello - It looks like you've been making good progress over the last few months. Just wanted to wish you well on your journey.
I normally cancel credit cards by phone - not had a problem so far. I usually tell them I have already cut up and disposed of the card so they don't expect it back!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks Savingholmes,
I shredded my cards last night and have 2 letters ready to go the credit card companies. Also managed to shift some credit card debt to 0% on my virgin credit card until May 2009 so that bides me some time to overpay on some of my loan.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Have managed to make a start at the 15K Paper Hat challenge, at last and am near the end of my goal for 'clear a debt' by Xmas. Have made £4.40 on AQA today and hope to have £100 made by the end of the month so I will only have £150 left on one more credit card. Hope that can be gone by Xmas!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Hi all,
Have my sister over for the weekend so have a night out tonight. Have ordered pizzas from Sainsbury's for tomorrow night and have also ordered alcohol as well as herself and her boyfriend are even worse off than us (boyfriend is at risk of being made redundant in 2 weeks) and have quite a big mortgage.
Am feeling very positive about my debt-free journey so far. I just want to get below 20k as that will be a huge psychological barrier for me. It will be a while before I get there but OH is hoping to get a job with the Royal Mail for December so if he gets that we use that money as our Xmas spends.
It is such a stressful time of the year. I love Xmas but the temptation to eat and drink too much is always there and of course I always go out too much and end up feeling really run down in January and really in debt. I have gotten some of the Xmas presents already so that will cut some of the cost down at least.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

It's been ages since I posted on my own diary. Too busy having a nosy at everyone else's!!!
Well paid off the remainder of my RBS credit card today. It felt great. Now I just have one credit card (large) and one loan (large) but is feeling a bit more manageable. Can't wait until I am under 20k with the debts as that will be the first time in about 4 years.
I went on to Amazon to buy a recommended college book. It looked really boring so I bought another one with my dooyoo voucher. I couldn't bring myself to do it and it is still a college book (although a more interesting one). Also bought MIL a book for Xmas so have all her presents now. Am going to make a list to remind myself
OH - 1 thing left to get
Family Secret Santa - have to get something
MIL - got present
BIL - got present
FIL - still need to get
Nephew - got present
Mum & Dad - still need to get
I better get my finger out on dooyoo so I can buy more presents!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Good afternoon everyone! Hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend. Well I am happy to report that I was out until 2.30am this morning and not a drink of alcohol passed my lips. I was fine until 1.30 and then I started to get bored. I wanted to go home then and OH wanted another drink. I was raging with him and gave out to him on the way home as I though 1.30am was long enough to stay out.
Still doing okay with the weekly budget though and should have a bit (little) left over on Sunday so that will be good. Will just put it into the pot for next week though and hopefully a nice amount will build up for any unforeseen bills etc.
My Xmas money is building up nicely too. Hope to have £100 made by the end of the weekend. I have a lot of expense over Xmas (as does everyone) and don't want to be at the top of my overdraft again in January. It is bad enough now as it isTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
