4 1/2 months - then go back one day a week for 10 weeks (and OH hoping to work flexibly so he can have one day with the baby) and then back part-time after 7 months. Will go back to a 3 day week. My contract is only until next Jan but really want to finish the contract. So will have to start looking for part-time work from Sept/Oct onwards. I can always do relief work at weekends if it takes a while though, so that won't be too bad.

I work with people in the social care area. The current job is making information accessible, but the relief work would be working in residential with people with a learning disability.

What about you? don't answer if it is too personal!

Atm I work in council as admin assistant really though my glorified title is performance management assistant. Only started office work when I moved to Cardiff.

It's good job security to be in a council though. Maybe you could ask your boss at supervision how you could progress further?

Yeah, job security is ok and like the flexible working hours, but don't like the mental attitude of council workers, took some time to get used to. My team is small so no progression possibilities here, but will obviously keep an eye on job vacancies here as well.

Yeah, there might be some room for internal progression. You could also do some voluntary work one evening a week in something that you like. That looks great on the CV too!

Hi all!

Still snowing here

Operation declutter the house and get it ready for the baby is well underway. We have cleared the little room so that will be a nursery for the baby. Although I am hoping to keep the baby in with us for 6 months. It is important for me that it resembles a nursery because I think psychologically I need to get ready for the baby as well.

Now we just need to tackle the rest of the house and make our claim to Eurostar for the extra money we spent on things when we were stranded over Xmas.

Moneywise - am waiting for pram money to land into my account and then I will make a loan overpayment. When the Eurostar money comes in I will use that as an overpayment for the loan as well.

OH still hasn't has an email back from the part-time work he is owed for. He has emailed twice - once in Dec and then in Jan as well. It is really bad form, might get him to chase that up today.
