I am trying to benefit from the east coast 3rd off for 3 or more deal, but price seems the same as when I did the initial search as 1 travelling. It's not an east coast run route i'm looking to book (norwich to london), but the stuff on their site doesn't say it has to be. Is this deal still running?
That particular deal under that name is for East Coast only - and it does say East Coast advance fares only
But http://www.nationalexpresseastanglia.com/offers/groupsave have a similar offer. Put in groupsave 3 (or 4) in the railcard section0 -
Sorry if these points are covered previously.
I just had a scroll through the website section -and........
RedSpottedHanky Tescos deal - website says ongoing which is true but your credit at RedspottedH expires at the end of 2011 so you need to spend everything that you convert before the end of the year.
Club55 is more than just Wales and Scotland. It covers the First group - F Great Western, First Hull trains, First Transpennine Express, First Capital Connect. You can combine them but at a higher fare.
Club 55 Wales- you CAN travel out and back the same day. Simply do not specify any return train and then you can travel on any train within the next month including the day of outward travel. If the booking site won't let you do it then don't bother. You can get these tickets immediately before boarding at the station or even easier from the Train guard. They are not restricted in terms of numbers of tickets issued so are always available.
Southern Trains had a one-day rover including the service to Milton-Keynes. Was £10 but maybe gone up to £12. Can only be booked on their linked website and 10 days in advance. Any southern trains in the area between Southampton to Ashford Kent, Brighton to London or Milton Keynes.
Hope this help somebody. Sorry but didn't have time to check everything exactly or provide links. Should be easy enough to find all of these deals though.0 -

I think you may be mistaken on this expiry issue.
Clubcard points that are converted to credit at RSH do not expire until 31 December 2020.
This was discussed in August this year, and someone had an answer from RSH.
See this post.
However, loyalty points that are credited to your account when you buy train tickets do only last for the current year.
Their Loyalty Terms and Conditions state...All points will be valid for one calendar year from 1st January - 31st December. If you do not collect and redeem your points by the end of the calendar year they will not be carried forward to the following calendar year.
When RSH explain clubcard deals on their website, they seem to use the terms e-vouchers and loyalty points as though they are the same thing.
So, not really surprising that people get misled, is it?0 -
From 16th Jan until 31st Mar 2012 , anyone over the age of 55 can travel for 19GBP rtn between any 2 rail stations in Scotland.

I am thoroughly confused by trains
I'm not a regular traveller and the websites seem pretty arcane.
I saw the link to the Southern Trains deal by Martin which offers the daysave tickets, the terms state the ticket is only available for "Southern Services", what I can't work out, if I get on a South West train from Southampton to London Waterloo, will I get chucked off?
I can't find any information on trains that make that journey that are run by Southern (I don't think I've ever seen a train in thier livery to be honest but as I say I'm not a regular traveller!).
All I wanted to do was go up to the London for weekend with the family, the train ticket bit has taken me hours so far and I'm still non the wiser!
I went onto trainline.com and they don't sell Underground travelcards, phoned them up and they were as much use a chocolate teapot, they couldn't explain why I wasn't being offered the Travelcard on the website, it really is hard work!0 -

Whether you will be chucked off or asked to pay extra I couldn't say, but probably best not to try it, eh?The_Governor wrote: »I can't find any information on trains that make that journey that are run by Southern (I don't think I've ever seen a train in thier livery to be honest but as I say I'm not a regular traveller!).
Always* in Southern livery too.
Where ever you are searching, try putting via Barnham in your search argument. You will see the Southern trains.
Have you tried searching on the Southern Railway website?
Very easy to use.

I'd agree with that - for this journey you can search for trains with no changes from Southampton Central to London Victoria. I think all of them are run by Southern but once you get the list you can just hover your mouse over the journey and it will tell you the operating company (or just click the little "i" icon to get full details of the journey - it will show "SN" for trains run by Southern.
Not sure if it's already been mentioned but as well as the DaySave ticket which has to be bought a week in advance there's the Downlander ticket which can be bought just 2 days in advance. Both these tickets are often cheaper than an advance return and even if you're not returning the same day it can be cheaper to buy a DaySave/Downlander ticket for each journey.
Finally, the group tickets are amazing value - a group DaySave ticket costs just £24 and allows up to 4 people to have a day's off peak travel.
There's a complete map of the Southern network on the site -just search for network map from the home page and you should find the latest version.

/QUOTE]Just booked return tickets on Gatwick Express for March but found it cheaper to use Cross Country Trains rather that Gatwick Express link. Paid £10.00 return for 1 adult instead of £26.25. Bonus!!0

Would've been more useful to others if you had said where you were travelling from/to.0 -
If you live in BRIGHTON you can buy a SOUTHERN day save ticket from one stop travel on the OLD STEINE on day of travel or before during opening times .The one thing to note is you cannot travel before 10am and return between something like 4pm and 7pm but you will be informed of conditions when you purchase the said ticket plus you can also buy a one day travel pass for LONDON which includes all day travel on tube and buses all in one ticket (train/tube/bus)for£19.
Another ticket you can buy which is the same type of ticket but on FIRST CAPITAL CONNECT which goes from BRIGHTON though London to Luton / Bedford via Kings Cross/Paddington which cost about £2 or £3 more than Southern. Which is ideal if you are travelling by Eurostar or from LUTON AIRPORT.0
