  • As someone new to OS I hoped to find tips but instead found a group of friends chatting about other things. for me, this made it difficult either to feel I could post but also to find what I was looking for.
I hope you don't mind me posting as I tend to be a lurker rather than a poster.

I used to post quite a lot on the daily about OS matters -what meals I was planning, baking and preserving projects, where I was planning to shop etc. Now I don't even look at it. It has most definitely become a 'thanking thread' as Magentasue puts it. I'm glad people find support there but frankly I'm only interested in what people are baking and not much else. That's fine though, if that is how the thread is going then I'm happy to stay away from it.

This may be a "support thread" thread, and I am not sure what is wrong with that, isn't it a good thing that in this day and age people can draw comfort from one another if times are hard and receive support and encouragement?

I also find it a motivational thread, keeping me on the OS straight and narrow.

Its a shame that people feel they have to apologise for having an opinion which may be at odds with others, this thread should continue to be a place where "people pop in for a chat" in what ever form that takes.

I don't usually get involved in things like this but the daily thread does annoy me. I love this board but never look at the [strike]thanking[/strike] daily thread. It reminds me of those corners at playgroups where established mums would congregate while their children wandered aimlessly or caused havoc. I know this sounds harsh but, for me, it's the worst part of the board and belongs on the Arms board. I'll get me coat ...

I find this a bit harsh. :p I must admit I agree with quite a few comments Penny posted. I find the daily does get bogged down with a lot of medical problems at times which isn't really OS. Everyone is having a moan sort of day (me included some days )

This topic has come up before. I don't think there will ever be a cure. It will always be a revolving door thread.

Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

I post on the daily thread, and find it to be a great motivational start to the day. Yes, there is some chat, but if people just want recipes, then there is a thread for that.

It would be such a shame to lose the thread as we get such a good mix of information.

Please do - you started me posting on the OS boards, too, and I miss your posts on the Daily. I always read your posts on other threads :D

I know - but the question brought out that side of me :o. Occasionally, I follow a thread that's been moved on to the daily board and go all grumpy old woman when I see a page of posts about the weather and who's put some washing out.

I want to shout "Go out and talk to people". Most annoying (and I know I sound really bitter and twisted here) are people with children who seem to post all day. I really want to push them out of the door so they can talk to real people.

It's sad that so many people feel unable to post there, though and, as said, it does have a very cliquey feel which, to me, is out of synch with the ethos of this board. If such a thread is needed (and there do seem to be people with this need) I feel it should be on a chat board like the Arms.

Maybe we're thinking about this too much?

Maybe we should just all think 'a bit less stuff, a bit more OS'.

    Problem solved :D

I don't think this is a good old days thread, more of a let's get back on topic thread
