  • Morning all,

off to Uni for a tutorial this morning, so meeting some mates for coffee there first/after.

Whatatwit, I usually try to get sort of equalish amounts of the butter, syrup & cocoa powder - it is a bit of a case of trial & error though. If anything you want a smidgen more syrup than butter possibly. I had some different, big, marshmallows yesterday & also chucked in some mixed chopped nuts as that was all I had, and it didn't work out so well. It seems to be huge marshmallows with a bit of nutty chocolaty stuff around them. Oh well, kids are still eating it!

Betheebee ((((hugs)))) to you and yours. Could you persuade your DB to let you be there for support while he tells them, or you tell them while he is there. It is such a huge thing to tell, but I'm sure he would feel better getting support. You must want to bang his head together....

Kaatlady, I don't like pick-a-lily either, but Diva's recipes always sound scrummy!

Must get going, just realised the time but want a quick glance at the thread PenPen has posted a link to.

(((((hugs))))) to all those needing them.

    Morning all,

Just had a few words with DH & he's downstairs now with a flea in his ear. I hope the [STRIKE]girls[/STRIKE] chooks are keeping him happy. :D Had a busy day here. Made an apple cake, burnt butter biscuits, bread & granola this morning. Finally got all the washing dry, it's been a wet weekend & caught up with the ironing. Washed Benny & the floors again. Red dirt.

I was given some material so been sorting out what I can use etc. Some of it's a bit shall we say outdated. :D Maybe Ol Haribo might like it. :p I've got DGS the next four days so will be knackered come Friday. He slept over last night & went for his second swimming lesson this morning. He screamed all the way through it again. :D I'm glad I didn't go. I got myself a new freezer on Saturday. A small chest type. It's not here yet but it when it comes, I've got lots of carrots to blanch. ;)

<hugs> to those not well etc. Hope you all have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Hi all, just caught up with the posts since Saturday. Been to the garage and it will be $150 to repair the scratch on my car - not too bad but annoying to have to pay for someone elses error!

For those who asked, I am in Darwin, NT which is a bit of a hike from Aussie who I think is in Queensland.

Desperate to get organised again but we are still in temp accomodation so no freezer, its costing me a fortune because I am having to shop every other day and believe it or not its pretty expensive here in Australia, no competition, just 2 major supermarkets, no buy one, get one free or anything  . Still have started to discover the markets so hopefully that will help.

Anyway - its 36 degrees here today - that helps!!

Thanks all for the warm welcome back - please help motivate me to get organised and reduce my spending!!

    morning all!

Have hung the washing out and had a quick tidy. Yesterday i bought some of the 39p Aldis veggies and made 3 cauliflower and broccoli cheeses. We ate 1 and have frozen the other 2. I need to get back to doing more bulk cooking as I've slipped a bit lately. There's some good veggie recipes in this months Somerfield magazine too which I want to try, even DH said he will give them a go and he's a meat eater!:D
Hope you all have a good day x

Just a quickie from me this morning as I have to leave shortly to take dd to the airport. :( It’s an hours drive away if the traffic isn’t too bad…goodness knows what it will be like first thing on a Monday morning. On the way back I’ll pop into Ikea for some church candles for round the fireplace as they seem to be the cheapest and longest burning one’s I’ve been able to find.

This afternoon I’ll be cleaning and tidying the trail of devastation dd has left behind. I really had forgotten how untidy she can be. Even the boys were appalled, and that's saying something. Tea will be leftover lasagne from yesterday which is handy because ds2 has choir after school and it will be a rush to get his homework done before I go out to work this evening.

Better get a move on. Have a good day all.

Morning! Grey and gloomy here to match my mood! Huge difference of opinions with a friend yesterday evening, and I think it's over a misunderstanding mainly, got to try and sort it out later, they're a fantastic friend and it's making me miserable arguing.

Sarnies done, big kids off to school, dd3 munching through brekkie at the mo. Pizza for tea so best sort out the dough in a bit, then the ton of housework that appears after the weekend.

Hugs to all in need, will be back later in hopefully a more cheerful mood. xx

edit: anyone know how to get red mud out of white shorts, ds has so much ingrained in them now that nothing seems to be shifting it, and they are looking decidedly pink! Tried soda crystals which usually work, but not this time!

    Morning all

Just read PPs thread, and apparently we're doing too much chatting on here and not enough OS stuff, so today I will be using the BM, DW, SC Remoska and cooking a variety of things. The WM will go on and I will wash anything that stands still.

In between I will try to hoover, dust, bake and be a true Domestic Goddess. Oh, and I have to fit work in somewhere :A

    Is that better :rotfl:

    Morning everyone
today I have some washing to do but the sun is shining again so that can go on the line
I need to sort out a cupboard in the kitchen so I can see how much flour/sugar/ect I have and i need to make a couple of loaves for the freezer and maybe some roll's I did wonder about doing it by hand but I'm not sure if I can manage the kneading by hand I did wonder if the mixer doing it would be enough
may do some other baking too and put it in the freezer for another time
not sure what's for dinner but will no doubt find something
    have a good day all

    Good morning everyone :hello:
I haven't been on this thread for aaages -Taplady has inspired me to post again;)

Well, breakfast was a choice of scrambled eggs or beans on toast. I had the eggs because they keep me going all morning and lunch will be late today as I have my French class later.

The kids have got pretty ordinary packed lunches of salami sandwiches (hm bread), flapjacks and fruit. I'm having leftover lentil and butternut squash soup.

Supper will be a chicken pilaff based on an Elizabeth David recipe (my current favourite cookery writer) plus a green salad. We had roast chicken yesterday so I'll be using the remains in the pilaff and making the carcase into stock to go in the freezer along with the other 20 odd tubs of hm stock

When I get back from taking dd to school I shall make 4 dozen flapjacks for the school tuck shop before I go off to my French class which I absolutely love.

My wm isn't on because it has died:eek: We are determined to get it repaired rather than take the easy and ungreen route of buying another. It is going to be a real pain though. I can wash those things that are absolutely necessary by hand, but it's getting them dry that's the real problem. Things take ages to dry if they haven't been spun- even on a nice warm sunny day.
Still, it's quite nice to have a day off filling and emptying the wm.
