Getting nowhere very slowly today.
OH did list two things on freecycle both due to be collected today so a little bit more space in the garage.
?I have an old feather duvet to get rid of. Once I saw in a church a huge box for putting bedding in for homeless people do any of you know of such schemes?
I have hoovered on top of the wardrobe ready for present stashing - I haven't brought any yet and have just had a chat with DS1 and DS2 whilst the little one is out of the way about how we will not be buying as much stuff this year (cause they don't need it) and the costs involved along with knowing what to get - they were both very good about it.
Going to do my ebay listings then make the cake. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

easiest thing to do Dusty is to phone your local homeless shelter, they may well be interested - I donated a load of towels and bedding when I moved here.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -

Or a womens refuge dusty - they look for stuff to help set up abused women in their own place
The Salvation army here has a separate unit from the charity shop and it takes housedhold goods for homeless

Hi all
Not a lot done off my list again but OH made me go and do 3 hrs paiting for him:eek: . Whilst i was there i also chucked 2 bin bags of rubbish out of the Kitchen, washed up and wiped over the new worktops. Found a home for the cutlery, and put away all the stuff he'd left out of the cupboards. The kitchen is only half in but was already in a state, he says there's no point in cleaning up as the whole house is still a building site. He's got a point i suppose but he can still put things away after himself. Says she who hasn't washed up from lunch yetIn my defense i wasn't here for lunch DSD2 was looking after Ds2 so it's their mess really.
Today in my house i have
Made beds
Collected laundry to add to my washing mountain:rolleyes:
Took dry stuff off airer & out away
Put wet stuff on airer
wm x 1
washed up breakfast dishes
Prepped Tea
BM
Hoovered living room
Ds2 wants to go splashing in muddy puddles in his new wellies so we're going to do that now then i'll clean up the kitchen again and put Tea on when we get back. Then i shall see what else i can get done.
I'm off to find my list i'm sure i left it around here somewhere.:rolleyes:0 -
Dusty - we use old duvets/pillows/cushions as dog bedding, as it's cheaper than buying dog beds. Alternatively, the salvation army usually have textile banks at recycling sites (including those at supermarkets, village halls etc), so if its clean, pack it in a bin bag and bung it in there.
Toots - why have you got so many boxes in your bedroom? Are you sure you need all that stuff
I've just posted something on one of the 'no heating ever again' boards which I thought might be useful here too...
THERMAL ZONING
We like different temperatures in different rooms- we like bathrooms to be very warm, living rooms to be a comfortable cosy temperature, and bedrooms to be cooler. An efficient eco-house recognises these differences and creates different thermal zones for the different rooms.Hot zone20-23°Bathrooms, airing cupboards, rooms for drying clothes, kitchen Warm zone18-21°Living rooms, study, children's bedroomsCool zone16-18°Adult bedroomsCold zoneunder 16°Rooms that are not in use, storage rooms, garage, basementThese are approximate figures for living temperatures. There are very great energy savings to be made from cutting just a couple of degrees off these temperatures. We live at the low end of these ranges and find that the maximum temperature we need is 19 degrees.
It's from this website... http://www.theyellowhouse.org.uk/ if you're interested in looking at it in more detail.
I've made a start on the garage - I have three boxes of stuff left over from a car boot sale earlier this year, which I could really do with getting rid of. There are two problems:
1. the boxes are full of spiders, so I don't want to put them in the car to take to the charity shop (spiders may escape into the car) OR unpack, check and repack them!
2. Some of the stuff belongs to a friend who did the car boot with me. Although she's happily left it with me all summer, when I spoke to her just before she went on holiday, she said she needs the stuff to sell as she's broke...
I need the space in my garage to store stuff while the utility room is done! My friend will be back from holiday next weekend, so I could potentially tell her that it needs collecting/a sale doing the following weekend. Does anyone know whether there is any point in trying to do a carboot at this time of year? I can't imagine any of this stuff will be worth putting on ebay!0 -
Thanks for the tips ladies - I'm sure their is a Sally Bin somewhere near here I'll google it.
Sorry another question: any tips for selling books on amazon - I guess I need to register to sell - is it better than selling books one bay?The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

I dn't sell on amazon.. their fees are much higher than ebay plus when you sell somsething they charge the buyer £3 postage and you get 50p.. that is simply not enough to post anything!!
Be very very careful if you do choose to list on there.. they do a 'what you will get from this sale' page before you confirm and it is worth looking at closely and seeing if it will cover your costs!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
