  • Myaccount, I am amazed that with an empty sac in the tube they have left you - isnt that an ectopic risk??? PLEASE dont put your health at risk - jump up and down if you have to - tears usually work best anyway!!!! I am shocked at their uncaring attitude.

Hugs for a positive outcome - lilo

  • That sac was smaller and empty (the other had a yolk sac in it but no embryo/fetal pole), they said it would reabsorb. She said there was no fluid so wasn't concerned at all, just if the pain got worse to go to A&E. It's definitely not worse so im just holding tight till we can get the private u/s. The time is dragging in though!

    Hello everyone

Relatively new to this board and spankingly new to this thread!
Not sure where I really fit in all the TTC threads.... so heres a bit of background....

Found out I was pregnant in July last year, went on a fantastic holiday, life felt good, came back home, saw midwife, life was good, got my information from work, working out dates, bought stuff for new arrival, life was reaching near on perfect!
September 11th had first scan (seemed to be waiting for ages!)..... the horrid echoing words of "Im sorry but this pregnancy has stopped" ring out in my head constantly....
Scan just showed an empty sac. Was told the pregnancy had been re-absorbed and it wasn't anything we could have stopped and that it was likely that there was a chromosonal abnormality meaning the foetus couldnt continue growing....

So life then sucked! And I miss what could have been every day....
DH and I speak quite regularly about how we're dealing with it, and we feel ready to try again.

I read the first few lines for this thrad about trying to conceive when things aren't straightforward or after loss, so I thought I would post, and share some positive vibes..... and hopefully learn.
Ive tried reading up on the internet but to be honest, I'm just feeling totally overwhelmed by information as well as just so unbelievably petrified of it all happening again....

Obviously one of the major starting points is to increase the amount of "married time" DH and I get..... but I just feel lost after that!

    Thanks for reading
    J xx
P.S Best wishes to everyone, and good luck and positive vibes to everyone xx

Welcome :) i wouldn't consider nearly 3 years new to the forum lol, i joined MSE a few months ago and i'm so glad i came to this thread/group.

I'm so sorry for your loss, the first trimester definitely drags in and i bet that was an awful shock for you both ((hugs)). I've had multiple losses, although later on in pregnancy. It's been almost 2 years since our last pregnancy/loss and been TTC ever since, we just recently got our positive test! I definitely know how scary it is, i've had problems already and i'm so nervous of another loss. I'll be paying privately for an u/s before the 12 week NHS one, just to put my mind at rest. I guess it's just something you have to go through to get that final beautiful result.

As far as TTC i think the most important thing is to find out when you ovulate and make sure you BD (baby dance ;)) several times around then. You usually ovulate 10-16 days before your period comes, so if you have regular cycles just count back and BD the 3 days before you're due to ovulate. You can always buy ovulation tests from boots (or ebay which is ALOT cheaper) to make sure you are Oing when you think. About 50% of couples conceive within 6 months, so if you don't have any fertility issues then i'd just do the above for 6+ months and try to enjoy it. Best of luck ;)

    I meant the board :rotfl:
I've downloaded an ovulation chart from a website which says to count day 1 as the first day of your AF and then from day 10 to BD, up till day 18, every 2 days, does that sound right?

I'm so sorry for your losses,I cant imagine how they must have felt for you...
I wanted to add a massive congratulations your positive result, and wish you all the best....xx

Another question I had is regarding BMI.
DH read on the internet that if you are underweight, you're more likely to have low birth rate babies, and also increased risk of miscarriage.
I've had difficulties with my weight, not through any disorder but I seem to just burn off rapidly any calories, and according to my BMI am considered underweight.
Does anyone know if the info DH seems to remember reading is true?

Thanks in advance for all the advice, its much appreciated xx

CAFCGirl - Welcome to the board :D I found this article that may be similar to what your DH has read.. http://www.babycentre.co.uk/preconception/beforeyoubegin/weightandfertilityexpert/
For me I'm at the other end of the scale when it comes to weight, classed as overweight so trying to loose a stone or two before comencing IVF in the next few months. Good luck x

well AF has not arrived today, keeping my fingers crossed but not getting my hopes up too much as I did last month when AF was a few days late (usually never late) I have had none of the symptoms that are sometimes mentioned, but I have my fertility monitor coming anyway so if AF arrives I have a helping hand for next month.
  • CAFCGirl - If your cycle is regular and under 35 days then i'd agree that every other day from 10 to 18 is likely to catch it. My GYN said that sex 3X a week throughout your cycle should result in pregnancy within 12 months..... although we don't all have the time or energy for that and we don't all want to wait a year lol. If your cycles aren't regular then i'd maybe try ovulation tests if you want to speed things up abit.

For BMI the underweight thing is true, you're roughly 70% more at risk of m/c if underweight. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/12/061204081933.htm. There's lots of medical journals and articles which say the same thing. Ideal BMI for conception and the growing baby is 22-24, but anywhere between 20-25 is fine. I'm 5'11 and my BMI is only just 20 - not through choice, i just find it very difficult to gain weight and lose it easily through stress. Maybe we both just need more time on the sofa with some chocolate lol :rotfl:

OT, but m/c risk is apparantly halved when the pregnancy is planned :) I'm a sucker for journals :o

Nichart - maybe you tempted fate with the monitor ;) Got my fingers crossed for you!

    Thanks myaccount thats really helpful!

I'd better start eating more! Chocolate if it has to be! LOL
Sounds like a good mini goal to work toward for a month or so, BMI of 20+.....
Luckily with my cycles, they are pretty regular, so should be easy to track etc.

    Hi everyone.

I really don't know what's going on this month.

I'm on cycle 5 of using the Clearblue monitor and its acting strange this month

It didn't ask me to test on a couple of days it usually would have so I reckon its missed OV. I usually get a positive peak at around days 13-16. I have only just got my peak today on day 23!
Now either I am just having a very odd cycle this month or the machine is just giving me a peak so it can say I have had one :rotfl:
The latest I have peaked since using the monitor is day 17.

I'm not overly worried about it because if I wasn't using the monitor I'd have been none the wiser......its just intrigued me :D
