Oh my.
Just had my first dating scan at 11 weeks. Within 5 seconds she told us we are having twins.
I am in complete shock. Was expecting to hear if it was healthy or not, but not that news.
No twins in family and this was a natural conception.
We are very happy but deeply shocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Proud mother of twin boys - double the trouble and twice the pleasure! :T0 -

Oh wow!!!!! Congratulations :T :T :T :T
Hubby and I would have loved to have twins. I have them in my family so we thought it might have been a possibility, but only one for us (which i feel very blessed with in any event).
I can appreciate your shock though.
I know when I have gone for scans at my NHS hospital, there have been brochures up on the notice boards re twin support groups etc. Oh, i think i even remember a post recently about someone having twins or maybe triplets, perhaps do a search and it may give you some good links to sites on the internet.
Check out the NCT nearly new sales in your area too. Now you will need two of everything :T
Once again, congratulations.0 -

Had my appointment with my midwife this morning and a student midwife was there so the normal midwife was really nice
complete change from last time I saw her three weeks ago! She told me off for not booking my anti-D or Glucose Tolerance Tests and told me I HAVE to have them done. I'm also to book in for my antenatal classes AND I'll have to have more scans at 28 and 34 weeks because my uterus has a septum (more heart shaped than upside-down pear) there's a high chance I'll go into labour early and that she'll be lying across my belly so I'll need a C-section. I'm still looking into hypnosis at the birth but if I have a C-section I'll probably need it at 38weeks rather than 40 so LB could be here by 7th April!
Anyway my blood results are all normal and the student used the doppler to listen to LB's heartbeat. They also said that the feathery-strokey sensations I'm having aren't my intestines but the baby moving!

To be honest, if you are 14 wks along, and you took mat leave at say 36wks, that only leaves you 22 wks of work. If you aren't planning on returning after your maternity leave runs out then I wouldn't go for the job and just explain why to your work.
If I've read your reply wrong and you just mean that you would want to take max mat leave then go back, then I don't see it being a problem. How would changing from being a contractor to a permanent staff member effect your mat leave entitlement??? something to think about.
If, like MFD says, you have a good relationship with the company (sounds like you do), then I would be upfront and honest about the pg. I know that if I was the employer I would appreciate you being upfront, but I am aware not everyone is as nice as me
Yes, but the big issue is £££ my contract finishes currently @ end of dec and it wouldnt be renewed if i didnt go permamnet as they would have to get someone else permanant. I am going home to NZ for most of Jan (planned in March 08) so would have problems coming back 7 months gone and finding work for 2 months. with OH sal we would have about £300-£350 a month for food and living expenses, (not mortgage or bills) from dec, tis incudes buying stuff for bubs (I think we will get a few gifts but don't anyone who has hand me downs) so they extra sal until july would tide us over, and we NEED a new bathroom as we only have a bath that is really high and i struggle now getting in and out of it, and we dont have a car,,, sorry I will stop ranting now, just needed to get it off my chest.
BTW - Twins!! wow congrats and what a shock!!!
and Angelfairy - you are superwoman!!!! thats must be why they give you so much to do, but just remember to breath!!0 -
