  • Wow, you lot have been chatty this afternoon, popped in this morning to see how everyone was and it seems like there have been another 3 pages since to read through! Haven't posted much recently but get the daily emails so trying to keep up with how everyone is doing!

Welcome and congrats to the newbies and well done to those new mums, hope bubbas are behaving themselves!:T

I had my 36wk app with mw this am. Was 2 wks late with DD and ended up being induced so was all prepared for it this time around. Imagine my shock when she said that the head is at the brim almost about to engage - apparently this doesn't normally happen with second pregnancies until labour begins  . First time around can happen any time up to 4 weeks before labour (at least this is what she was telling student mw she had with her!). So, spent the afternoon flaked out on the sofa, really freaking out!

Feel a bit better now and resigned myself to the fact that I guess it doesn't mean bubba is going to appear in the next week or so but at least it explains why I've been feeling sooooo uncomfortable, really heavy down below and spending sooo much time on trips to the loo! So now every twinge is making me wonder, I guess only because I didn't experience it "naturally" last time, waters broken for me and contractions caused by drips etc!

Oh well, they do say you know when you are in labour "proper":rotfl: What's the betting I'm still on here waiting past my edd of 21st Nov!!??

Best wishes to all the bumps and mums to be!
Proud mum to Matthew born 23/11/08 7lb 13oz
    and Rosie 12/01/05 7lb 9oz

Fg look at the positives :) You're still getting nausea right? :) Well odd as it seems that's a positive! ;) And being as I suffer from it too then I know it's hard to believe! :D It means the baby is firmly attached!
Start looking forward and look for local classes to you where there will be other pregnant women, talk about whether you are planning on doing breastfeeding and how long for...
Think about what you want to do between now and when baby arrives and what about afterwards? Give yourself goals that are acchievable and focus on something. Get your mind off worrying - if I remember right then initially you thought you might be a LOT further along - well that's a positive - in so far as you have taken the meds for a lot less of the pregnancy than you might have if you'd been further along.
Go out - walk to the park if you feel up to it... yesterday for the first time in weeks I took my dog for a long walk and it was great! (Before anyone asks she has a dog walker who is doing a lot more walks because I haven't been able to what with throwing up) and getting out in the fresh air without any reason to go somewhere other than just to walk was so refreshing :)

Oh meant to ask - where is everyone else having scans done? The cheapest Nuchal Scan i can find is like £175 - a massive fiver off the hospital price... *sigh*. If nowhere is cheaper I'll book it at the hospital but in true MSe fashion I thought I'd see if there was anywhere cheaper...

Is that just for the scan or for the scan and the blood tests? At the place I'm going on the 8th, its £95 for just the scan, or £160 for the scan and bloods. The other place was slightly cheaper. I'd keep shopping around, you should hopefully be able to get at least £15 off that price! Whats your area(ish)?

Oh oh oh and another question... when did everyone get the blood results back for all those tests the midwife did at your checking in? Not anticipating any bad news but I'd like to know if ya know :rotfl:

I usually refuse the booking bloods and get the routine tests done with the AFP test done after 16 weeks. It's not that I have a problem with needles, but I have a problem with blood thieves when I'm perfectly healthy:rotfl: This time though, I had to have bloodwork done last week because I keep passing out, so I've given my results to the midwives and they're quite happy with that.

MY QUESTION is, are any of you paranoid about your weight? I've gained a stone with each pregnancy and right now I weigh 13stone. I feel absolutely horrible and I'm desperate to lose it. I was actually taking orlistat for a month during the summer and lost 9lbs which *touch wood* I've kept off so far but I'm doing no exercise right now with being so tired and I'm really panicking about being 14stone+ when this baby arrives :(

Yes also panicking about weight - which is why I'm trying to get back out walking the hound... Already 13St BUT I am 175cms tall :) And I already had a large bust which weighs a fair bit so I try not to worry TOO much *sigh* Oh who am I kidding! :)
I need to eat less junk (shame about the BigMac I just wolfed down...) and do more light exercise... hmmmm did anyone see that pig fly by??? ;)

    I'm in the opposite camp.. I'm only 8st and 5ft 7 so a size 6.

Would love to put a few stone on and keep it there!
