thanks for that fritha. bf has just come home and says he doesn't want me going to leeds with him, and will go by himself as he doesn't want me going into labour on the motorway and having to deliver the baby himself! bit over the top me thinks.

it's 3 hours there and 3 hours back and my sil went into labour last week and was only in labour for 7 hours, so i think that has worried him a bit. he says if i am home, i can just call an ambulance and he will get back as soon as he can.

My labour was quick too-waters broke just before midnight and i had elliot at 4:27am lol....

Best advice for labour-deep breathes, relax as much as possible (ie dont panick it'll slow things down) and if you have gas and air it works best with deep breathes in and out but i was advised to stop when it came to push as its difficult to do both!

I was petrified before the birth! but it was a positive experience for me-and although i wont be rushing to have another baby just yet, it didnt put me off or scar me for life lol! :o even after having three 2nd degree tears!

Good luck to those due (or over due!!) :D

Hi all, thanks for the info on early scans :)

I would have been 20wks today. I'm not dwelling on it; in fact, I feel rather upbeat and positive about next time.

Hope your 4D one goes well today, SB, and everyone else is well too :)

Hi searching and welcome, don't forget to find the list a few pages back and add yourself.
I'm soo jealous that you have a pic! I had a 6wk scan after a bleed but I was so worried about it all being ok I forgot to ask if they could do a pic

I didn't think to ask either - just relieved there was something there at the time! - but OH did take a pic of the screen on his phone and it's clear enough to see what's there. (cheapskate, moi? )

Hi searching - glad to hear that things are OK with your pg. Welcome properly!!!

hi elle-gee - nice to see you popping your head round the door

pollyanna and bargainaholic - good luck to you both :D

Well my rant today is that everyone keeps commenting on how small I am. In fact the shop assistant in mammas and papas didn't belive i was pg at all - let alone 6 months (that's just ridiculous!_ when I enquired about maternity clothes!!! Hubbie was in stitches as I ahd just bene complaining that I felt like a whale

having a quiet day at home as the weather is disgusting and the forecast is even worse :( Daytime tv for me then :D Have a busy day tomorrow so think that's acceptable.

  • Tine - 24 hour labour isn't unusual! Unless the baby is showing signs of distress, it's fine to let a mother plod on with her labour and the medical lot don't class you as being in labour until you reach a certain point (I think it's 3cm dilated with contractions less than 5m apart). Look up prodromal labour (or labor) for more info. With my first son, I was contracting from the Friday teatime, admitted on the Sunday morning and finally gave birth the Monday evening!

For those of you considering VBAC - a vaginal birth is much quicker and easier to recover from than a c-section, does that sway you any?

And for those of you who are over your dates - would you consider postponing being induced in order to have a natural labour, or are you just at the stage of wanting the baby out?

How rude  you would think that they would train their staff in how to treat hormonal women!

I, on the other hand, am fed up with people telling me how big I am...and even worse - how big I am going to get

I am still only 21 + 3 but people keep asking me 'when's it due?' like I am ready to pop! I have grown quickly but why do people feel the need to comment? When I sheepishly say 'not until march' their eyes practically pop out of their head and they go on to tell me that it will be a whopper or that it is definitely twins or some other completely inappropriate twaddle

I wouldn't mind so much but this is mostly by blokes with kids themselves so they will be quite aware of how senstitive and hormonal a pregnant lady feels

It would appear that I am being angry today :o

No when I said she had a 24hour labour I did know that :) She was 6cm+ dilated for those 24 hours (fully dilated for most of it)... that is why it's shocking! But the baby just didn't want to come down. I guess baby wasn't in distress but the mother certainly was... When the MW finally fetched the doctor she was too exhausted to push any more having tried to push for quite a while on the MW's instructions...That's why she lost so much blood and they kept her in for 7 days after the birth.
