AF, I think you'd be better asking on the benefits and tax credits board, I don't really have a clue... Sorry!

that's okay KK, you answer enough of my queries :D

i have asked there before in a way, but didn't get much of a response. might just wait until nearer the time.

We gave them an estimate of what I would earn as I knew it would be diff from my P60 (obviously:rolleyes:) they seem happy with this - as am I coz I'd hate to be over paid! my top tip is to make sure you call them whenever anything changes to avoid being overpaid/underpaid but make sure you've done some sums first
and know any dates of changes

    thanks Sami

i would HATE to be overpaid as well. gee, all this is sooooo conufusing. i just like getting my monthly salary in my bank (just dont like the bit where i ferry it around to pay for things)
  • has anyone else been told off for putting weight on? I have put on 6lbs in 9 weeks (think it would be less if I wasnt constipated:o )

I am now 20st at 5ft 8 it gives me a BMI of 42 amd MW doesnt like it  Ho hum I just see it as am large and in charge :D However she seems to think I am a ticking time bomb!

  • Krystal - wise words re picking battles...something that I have not always been good at but it makes sense. It's very easy when you only have to 'put up' with it for a day or two at a time but I know that 24/7 is going to be VERY different :rotfl:

Can you imagine how relieved I was when I met DSS and he was really well behaved :o it wouldn't have stopped me marrying hubby of course but it would have made my life much more difficult if we didn't get on or he was a little horror!!

Actually, DSS is probably too good!!! We popped around to see his cousins the other week and we stopped at the shop on the way to buy sweets. When we got to BIL's house DSS went up to BIL (his uncle) and asked if the boys had had their dinner and if he was allowed to give the sweets to them :A Any other child would be off scoffing the choccie without a second thought!

Consultant was a bit mean to me the other day, because of my weight (BMI of 45). She said I should try not to gain weight. I'm hovering at about 4lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight, which she was okay with, as I'm 20 weeks.

I'm not finding it that diffcult to not overeat now - the baby has completely disrupted where everything is, and my stomach is really small now.

After the consultant appointment, I was really scared - she made it sound like we were both going to die a horrible death because I'm so hugely obese.

  • Re Tax Credits

Just to say be really careful with them they overpaid us by £800 even though we told them everything when we should, because there is no way of knowing how they do the calculation you might not know when you are being overpaid . I didn't, it still wasn't even touching the amount i was paying in childcare

  • I have the joy of the consultants rant to come 15/01/09 where I am going to state clearly that 1 year ago I was 21st8 so I have done well and they can go hump a duck if they are not happy. Grrrrr:mad: Ready for a fight (hormones have brought out the fighter in me as OH says lol)

I'm afraid we live in a very "anti-fat" society now  as you are considered to be too fat "they" say you shouldn't put on any weight while preg (I'm not a big girl but I really don't understand how that would be possible) one of the other ladies on here has been told that the hosp may need "specialist lifting equipment" due to her weight  talk about making people feel at ease!

This advice makes me laugh as doing it that way means that the powder doesn't get heated up enough to sterilise it (it needs to be over 70 deg C to be sterile) I did do it that way for a bit but in the end said sod it :rotfl:
    )

So did you sterilise the bottles then make up the feed and keep them in the fridge? I'm sure thats what we did last time but OH disagrees and says we just put the water in and then made the feed up when about to give it, Now maybe thats what he did when he made the bottles up (once a blue moon) but I'm sure I just made the bottles up altogether once a day.

Its only five years ago but it feels like a lifetime!

MFD I assume you are "normal" weight coz they leave us alone I got weighed at booking in but only because I didn't know what I weighed they would take my word for it if I'd known
