    ladies,

i must repeat .... i will not stress about work, i will not stress about work (about a million times in my head)

i know we all have worries/queries re money/childcare etc, but is it just me that struggles to make decisions on these issues becuase i have no idea what it is like to be the mother of a baby? how much maternity leave; when to go back; how often to go back; what to we qualify for re WTC etc.

Hubby has only been working for his boss since June (i think and his pay varies monthly as he is paid hourly) and bubs is due two weeks before the new financial year starts so i have no idea how to go about entering these details into entitledto.com

When did life get so complicated???? Yeah, that's right, when I answered 'Yes' to hubby's question "Don't you think we should have a baby as we aren't getting any younger?"

MFD, I completely understand what you mean... I wouldn't say I'm strict with DD but I stand my ground when I say something... I have friends who basically give in to their children constantly and it does my head in!!! Their children are so whingey and cry and scream to get their own way whereas DD accepts that when Mummy says no then she means no... Although the best piece of advice I can offer is 'pick your battles' sometimes it's not worth the fight and sometimes it is...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...

AF, put in his earnings from his P60 for the last working year, this is what working tax credits go from... DH had a small pay rise this year and I put this amount on the forms but when they replied with the calculations they had used his earnings from the last tax year anyway...

Srry, just reread your post and he started his job this year... Ring the tax credits helpline and see what they suggest...

  • Oh my goodness you fill pages soooo quickly!

I moved house last week and so have been trying to follow the thread at work, but its been busy! So have just now caught up! Phew

I have decided that I will be a stay at home mum! MIL lives 8 miles away (but she is annoyingly cheerful all the time) My mum lives 250 miles away, as I moved to Halifax from Hampshire 2 years ago and I like it up here. Have work friends but no real go out for coffee at the weekend friends IYKWIM. Having said that I was a childminder for a friends family for 5 years and spent most of my time alone with the children so it should come as a surprise to me when wee one arrives.

16+5 today!! :D and I get to see wee one 05/01/09 at my next scan.:D Oh and MS has stopped!! :D Now I only have mild nausea most of the time :D
    DS1 arrived 22/02/11! 8lb3oz
    DD1 arrived 20/05/09 10lb3oz

Hi Bertha! You seriously need to get in with the chit chat and up that post count...believe me it is easy once you get started (when did I go over post 2k  )

Krystal and Sami - I have no problem with poo and sick etc I was brought up with it! It's just silly behaviour that I don't entertain (by silly I mean tantrummy type stuff). I remember having words with my brother because I told my nephew 'no' when he started squealing because he couldn't get what he wanted (at about 18 months) - they didn't say no to him, they let him squeal  . They now live by the house of tiny tearaways (or whatever is fashionable these days) parenting model (to the letter!!!) - which they wouldn't need had they not spent the first 2 years of his life letting him have the run of the house.

I guess you would call me strict  although the girls here are convinced I won't be the same with my own.

Have I dug myself a hole there...:o . If I have you know I don't mean to offend.

no offence in there that I can see ;)
I know what you mean tho, Chris has daddy wrapped round his lil finger so knows if he throws a tantrum and bangs his head repeatedly on the floor (he loves to do that ) daddy will panic and pick him up  not mummy though I slide a cushion under his head and let him bang away, his tanturms soon end and he says sorry to mummy, I'm in charge round here and you can't get round me with a tantrum! (I have far to much experience of throwing tantrums myself to know that giving in is not the way to go)
I think you'll be fine ;) some say I'm strict but as you say if you let them get away with it when they're little you can't just change your mind when they are bigger

I dont think he has one as he was out of work for bit (due to a knee injury). We didn't claim anything due to my wage (not huge but enough to not claim anything). That is why i am uncertain as to what we might be looking at WTC wise (apart from the CB).

Opps, and then I just read your last paragraph :D

What happens with information regarding my earnings. Will they take into account my salary from 2007/2008 (which would be a full time salary) as opoosed to my maternity pay information which is what i will be on from April 2009?

    Sorry for the questions.

Happy happy baby thoughts though :T

    :T Yes :D :rotfl:

I have never been so pleased to have a mildly nauseous feeling :D I must say that I used to suffer with migraines when I was younger. Each one was 48 hours twice a month, and that really helps prepare you for spending alot of time on the big white phone to god!

We gave them an estimate of what I would earn as I knew it would be diff from my P60 (obviously:rolleyes:) they seem happy with this - as am I coz I'd hate to be over paid! my top tip is to make sure you call them whenever anything changes to avoid being overpaid/underpaid but make sure you've done some sums first
and know any dates of changes

AF, I think you'd be better asking on the benefits and tax credits board, I don't really have a clue... Sorry!
