Maybe I should say that my mum has already semi stopped working. She's 52 in Feb and the maternity cover contract she was doing finished the week of her 50th birthday and she never got another proper job. She does a lot of volunteering and a lot of "meeting friends for coffee" plus taking my grandparents out on errands and just generally spending time with them. She does admin work for the charity she volunteers for and every six months they can put in a bid for three months wages for her, so sometimes she's paid for it and sometimes she's just volunteering. She used to work in a highstreet jewellers and is back there for Nov and Dec just doing Christmas temping, twelve hours a week. If she wasn't working, she'd only be shopping and calling in there to catch up with her friends so she might as well go back and get paid for it, just serving the occasional customer!0

Poppy has gone to Nanna & Grandad's so I'm back in bed
.
Do the ladies that live far away from their families have a good support network of friends who can help them out sometimes? It can get lonely sometimes, especially when DH goes back to work 2 weeks later, so please tell me you will be ok otherwise I will worry!

Feelie really? no babysitting at all? my mum would have Chris all weekend every weekend if I let her, she is besotted with him!
When my sis is home she steals chris for at least 4 hours but seeing as she sometimes doesn't see him for 2-3 months I don't mind.
I try to leave Chris with MIL & FIL if i have a dentist or hair app as they live close to both and so they don't feel left out . (I'm not a big fan of their parenting style and house isn't exactly toddler friendly)
Chris is currently the only grandchild in the family tho so he is a bit spoiled by his grandparents0 -
Im lucky I have my mum to look after bump when it arrives.
I hope to take a year off and only return maybe 2 full days or 4 half days....not sure yet.
Im sure the drop in income will hurt but im also sure we'll manage...I think we all get used to spending what we earn, regardless of whether we need it and im sure we'll be able to cut down accordingly.
Labour vibes to anyone close....hope you are all well xDS Anthony Steven 07.06.92DD Becky Emma 24.01.94DD Rose Grace Jean 12.05.090 -

Everyone listen to SBif you don't have some mummy friends make sure you get yourself to some baby groups once bump arrives! I'd have gone mad if I'd stayed at home being lonely

She said she found it hard at first that her Mum refused to babysit, but was glad that it made her self-reliant. She ended up moving away from her Parents when I was tiny, and my Brother was a toddler - she was glad she could cope without a babysitter on demand. Personally, I want grandparents to be grandparents - they should get all the nice bits and none of the stress! I'm probably so keen to not 'force' the baby on her, after seeing BIL and SIL with MIL. She has to babysit almost every day, despite having an elderly and unwell husband to look after. Its just not fair, so I want to make sure I don't end up taking advantage. I know me well enough to know that I'd get used to having a regular babysitter, and I'd abuse it and take it for granted!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

I'm a pretty solitary person anyway, so don't think I'll mind much. I'm used to being alone most of the time, and I'm used to just being in the house. Hopefully shouldn't be too much of a change when the baby is here!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

Wise words Angela! before I had Chris I spent £150 a month on car loan, £30 on mobile phone, around £60 on cds n dvds  and wait for it £100 - 200 EVERY month on clothes n shoes  mix that with my starbucks and fake nails habits and I spent my entire wage every month on basically nothing! now I even wait twice as long between hair apps coz I love my hairdresser but £70 for cut n colour  I feel so guilty spending it but it is my only treat now :A0 -
ooh they're gonna talk about jamie bulger on the news, it always upsets me so much
MIL works for merseyside police and some of her colleagues worked on the case and said that one of those boys was pure evil and are just waiting to hear he's killed again now he's out  I'm so paranoid when I'm out I don't let Chris out of my reach coz she's told me about so many horrible people she comes into contact with!

I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
