I've asked mum to fly over soon as Bean arrives - she suggested she wait a week or two to allow me and hubby time to just be us but I want her here to help me and support me and take the pressure of me when it comes to anything other than looking after Bean... I'm dreading visitors descending on us before we are ready. I'm having (hopefully) a HB, and I'm not telling anyone other than OH (and the MW's!) when I'm in labour, so when we call to say baby is here etc we will hopefully be all tucked up at home. If its late in the day I'm asking parents etc to hold of until the next day before visiting, if it's early in the morning then I'll suggest they come after dinner
It'll take them at least an hour to travel to ours though, so at least I'll have that!!!
r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Right - off to our last antenatal class. Meeting hubby there. Really quite tired after my lovely afternoon baking and gossiping with my friend. Can't really be bothered learning how to bath a baby (I have done this hundreds of times even though I don't have a baby of my own yet), but OH has no childcare experience so it'll be good for him and I'm looking forward to seeing the nice people that live round the corner and hopefully keeping in touch with them after the classes too.
It's so cold outside though so must try and make myself presentable and warm at the same timer.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -

When I was training to be a Nursery Nurse, I had to bathe a doll. I wasn't only judged on how I help the doll, but also how I entertained it! I was watched right from filling the water, bathing the doll, talking to it, drying it and dressing it. I felt like a plonker, pretending this dolly was real, while 4 ladies watched me!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
Evening all!
Thank you for being so lovely and reading/replying to my moaning!
I'm feeling a bit better today. OH hasn't done much in the house, other than put his own things away, on the grounds of not wanting to upset me more by doing wrong / putting something in the wrong place - bless him!
I'm not feeling too sleepy yet for a change (although I always seem to say that at ten past six and I'm asleep by half past!) so I'm going to try to keep going until 10pmm then crash in bed and sleep through. I'd not given any thought to the heat in the room, but now you mention it, Triggles, the fire is always on when I'm asleep so the heat might be making my sickness worse! Will put a stop to that and hope for the best - thank you!
OH has been shopping and got me the smaller FA tablets so I'm happier taking those than pressuring myself to swallow the big tablets (always had a problem taking tablets - I used to have to crush tiny hayfever tablets between two spoons and mix them with jam until being about 16!). He's also bought my mum's Christmas present without me having to nag. It's something technical for her laptop so I wouldn't know what I was looking for. And, come to think of it, he's done a few loads of washing and the washing up too - he's ace really!
It's his grandad's funeral tomorrow. It's first thing in the morning and we've got the whole day off so hopefully we can do something a bit fun in the afternoon. He's 36 but a big kid really so I think he wants to have a DVD fest, watching KungFu Panda and Wall-E!
Glad all the scan and check ups have gone well today. There seems to be loads of us with scans on 29/30th. I'm glad mine's at 09.10am otherwise I think I could be in for a looooong wait!
Labour vibes to SB (and Miss C if you would like them!). Anything happening yet?
Hope everyone is well and happyThanks again for "listening" xx

Elle - hope tomorrow goes okay for you and OH. We watched Wall-E the other day, don't know if it was the pregnancy hormones, but it was such an emotional film!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

When I had DS, I didnt have to worry about visitors in hospital. He arrived about 10 minutes after the water broke. They didn't have time to move me to the delivery room, so I gave birth on the labour ward. And we left the hospital within 12 hours of the birth. Loved it. Hope it goes that well this time around!
I'm not sure what the hospital visiting hours are at this hospital locally, but when we were in Devon, they were quite restricted (which I thought was great).MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -
I didn't have too many visitors after I had DD, My Aunt and Nan visited me on the ward, and my sister who was my alternative partner (they can come anytime) But once I got home it was a bit of a nightmare... My Mum had a week off work, supposed to help me but she used to turn up at 7:30-8am (when I wanted to still be asleep and DD usually was asleep) and sit and read her Bella magazine all day before going home... The only time she helped was when my sister came and shamed her into it... Oh and my Dad and his girlfriend turned up the day my milk came in so I was in the bedroom having a nightmare trying to get DD latched on and she wanted to feed longer because it was milk... And then I ended up cooking tea for everyone because I was starving and it seemed rude not too... Wouldn't happen again I can tell you, nearly 5 years later that still grinds on me....
And FG, I can remember the bathing the doll assessment when I did my NNEB...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
