Hi Elle. Good to see you are still checking on us!
My PCT doesn't refer until 3 m/c's either as they then investigate to see if there is a problem. Sadly m/c is all too common and one is not looked upon as out of the ordinary.
My mw was fantastic and explained that this was a completly different pregnancy (with Poppy) and there was no reason whatsoever to assume it would happen again, which thankfully it didn't! She did, however, personally see to it that I was scanned and booked in slightly earlier than usual (9+5 instead of 12) which I was so grateful for.
I have my beautiful DD now and a son on the way so my mw was spot on!
Lots of good luck and we hope to see you back here very soon!

I'm really shocked to see so many folk say they wouldn't be referred until you've had three miscarriages - up here, that's when you'd be referred for testing etc but if you have concerns about your early pregnancy at all the EPU/EPAS will see you. Maybe it's a service that just isn't wildly advertised?0

MrsTine, I've had two scans and saw it on the screen and then lost it, so yes, it does make perfect sense.
I've been googling early pregnancy scan places nearby. We're a bit out on a limb on the east coast so the nearest places are all about an hour away but there are three near enough if I really feel the need.. we'll see at the time.0 -

I doubt we'll get the vouchers but will apply once I'm 10wks anyway just in case. I haven't looked at the mat grant but if I remember rightly we aren't entitled as hubby earns "too much" I hate that we miss out on things because hubby works 50+ hrs a week so we don't struggle but I suppose I'm used to it as it was the same growing up my dad worked his little bum off to pay for things, as my mum always proudly declares "we might not of had much but you always had Clarks shoes!" :rotfl:
I have to say if you gave me the chance to go back and swap my childhood for one with more money I wouldn't take it, I had a great time spending summer at home in the garden with our dogs, my sister and a paddling pool - who needs disney land!0 -
Hi Ladies, i have a question to ask if anyone knows the answer?
Im booked in for a c section next tuesday but today have come down with the most stinking cold you would not believe, do you think it will affect my operation if it hasn't gone by then. Got to have bloods taken on thursday and know it will affect the results of that :-(
i want this baby out now!Mum to 2 beautiful daughters born Oct 05 & Oct 08
It doesn't cost anything to smile!:hello: :starmod: :starmod: :starmod: :starmod::starmod:0 -
I would think that provided its not affecting your chest you'll be fine, are you planning to be awake or gen anesthetic? as I'm guessing it would be more likely to affect you if having a GA but I am just guessing (not actually helping at all am I!)0

Hey ladies - the lurker is hovering again...
Don't want to upset anyone but I wonder if any of you have any experience of the next pregnancy after a [first] m/c.. Did you have any extra scans/tests, or was it just treated as a normal pregnancy?
I went to see my doctor yesterday - wanted to check my blood tests/thyroid levels were all good - and he said they are trying to cut back on the amount of early scans they do as it doesn't really prove anything or put your mind at rest for long (in other words, "everything could change tomorrow"). I see his point but I just wondered if that's our PCT's outlook or if it's a national thing.
Thanks
PS Could be back with you by the end of the month.. have been working on it!
Hello Lurker
Great to see you about.
Love to know that you are keeping a watchful eye on all of us.
Glad you are enjoying the 'working on it' bitHave fun
Also, is anyone else consultant led in their pregnancy. I have my first appointment with a consultant tomorrow due to some slight medical issues, nothing majory at all. Just wondering if he will take a look and me and then just send me back to the midwife/GP or whether because I have been referred anyway, I have to stay with him throughout?
Hope everyone is well.0 -
Hi angelfairy, I was consultant led the first time and been refferred to the same one this time. With me, I went to the hospital for the consultant appointments at the same time as scans and all other normal care in between was with the midwife.

Thanks for that info Krystal.
What is it that the consultant actually does if you don't mind me asking??
I have my 20 week scan this afternoon but first appointment with consultant at the hospital tomorrow morning (it was meant to be 2 weeks ago but i had to go overseas at short notice).
I was away when you were married and I hope it all went well and you are enjoying being a 'Mrs'
Might have to call on you at a later date if that is okay as I am really really keen to breastfeed.
Thanks again.0 -
Call on me anytime, it's what I love helping with the most!
To be honest I don't recall the consultant doing a fat lot... And I only saw my own consultant once the rest of the time it was registrars on her team... I suppose it depends on the reason you've been refferred... I was mostly checked out by the midwives in the centre, BP, wee test etc and then the consultant would just look over the results and say they were fine, or come back at 36 weeks for another scan etc... Think they only actually laid hands on my bump once (the one time I saw the actual consultant) it really wasn't anything to worry about... apart from I probably lost about 3 days sitting in the waiting room... They were never running on time!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls...
