ooohhh food I remember when I enjoyed it lol!
threw up for the first time on sunday morning and yesterday (which was awful, burnt my throat which was super painful all day) managed to escape it today although it was a close call at one point. I've been carrying my bucket around the house with me all morning everyday now for the last week or two just in case.
My mum was really p*ssed off with me coz I was late giving her a lift this morning and I didn't have a reason - who knew not telling people I'm preg would cause so much trouble! I've also got to make up an excuse as to why I can't go and stay with my sister as there is no way on earth I could hide my m/s in her tiny flat :(

I finally saw a midwife today! Have been booked in, scan is 12th November and I've been put under the same consultant as with DD which is nice... Means I get an extra scan! Sadly my BMI is too high for a home birth so I'll just have to hope the birthing pool is free again when I go into labour...

Oh and I get to go next week for blood tests... Yay....

Just tried on most of the tops I own, and hardly any fit anymore! Stupid boobs being super-sized! Can't do trousers up either. I've not gained any weight though, so why does nothing fit?!

ooh Krystal My scan is 12th nov too. Had my booking in app on thursday.
I can't believe how much more stuff she had to go through than when I was pg with Lil Chris!! I was also relieved when she was ok with me saying I didn't want any blood tests at all, I was expecting a lecture over that!
I'm also looking forward to the parentcraft classes even tho its too yet early! They are run my surestart and sound much better than the ones I had last time in a diff area. one of them will be with a b/f support wotsit so that should be interesting as I really want to b/f this time as with Chris I was too shy to go to the support meetings and gave up. MW also gave me a thing to see if I can claim free milk/fruit/veg vouchers as i'm on JSA which would be very MSE as Christopher seems to be part fruit bat!

    Ooh Sami, we're scan buddies!

Do you know she never really mentioned the blood tests she just asked me to come back next week and when I looked in the Green book she'd just ticked yes to them all... She also got me in and out in about 15 mins without really discussing anything at all... She was a stand in for my usual MW who was off too... Looks like things haven't changed in the 4 years since I had DD! I asked her about my back and pelvic pain and she just told me to go to mothercare and buy a belt...

I'm meeting my usual midwife on the 6th. What do they do at 16 week appointments?

The other MW I saw was lovely, I wish I could have had her! Hopefully this lady will be nice too.

They will probably do a wee test and check your blood pressure... and if you're really lucky bloods... But you might not need these if you've had a nuchal. We don't get nuchal scans here so it's 16 week bloods only...

Krystal it sounds like she was as much use as mine :( I brought all my hospital notes with me from my brief stay at the beginning and she wasn't interested at all other than when it came to that section of the paperwork she just made a note. Didn't want to see my scan notes or anything...

Its pretty shocking really isn't it Tine... and I know they see pregnant women all day every day but for each of us its a unique experience... And my appointment was blocked out until 12 and they were on time so it's not like she needed to rush....

Oh and as far as handing the domestic violence leaflet... I got passed it with a stack of other stuff... Including stopping smoking... Even though it's all over my notes I don't smoke!

  • Funny you should mention the Healthy Start Vouchers, Sami! I saw a poster in the dr's surgery earlier when I saw the mw and thought I must post about them here! :D

Here are the links and you can also print off the forms:

    Healthy Start Vouchers

    Sure Start £500 Maternity Grant

I helped my neighbour claim last year and it really helped her out. Unfortunately I don't qualify but its well worth having a look as some people might be able to claim once baby is born and in receipt of Children's Tax Credits.
