you should be fine with a normal scan, with my 1st I didn't know dates so when I went for my 12wk scan they measured baby and decided I was 11+2, you can see quite a bit
I'll post my pic from said scan that later turned out to be Christopher in a mo if i can

Thanks Sami_Bee. Wow, you can see quite a lot. I think I'm just going to be nervous on Saturday as I'm still not convinced everything is OK but hopefully by the time the 29th comes round and I have the NHS one, I'll just be excited!

I think it's the placenta as I think it embeds into the wall of the womb, but hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along soon to confirm!

I'm pretty impressed with the size of the womb. Obviously, I know it grows but I kinda thought it would grow with the baby, not grow and then the baby grows later. :o

chopsticks - i agree with the others that you should be fine having an abdominal scan. It's really only the very early scans - like prior to 7 or 8 weeks that a transvaginal one is sometimes needed. And when I said I refused to have one, I didn't mean because they were so awful - I'm just superstitious having had a few bad experiences personally. I hope I didn't make anyone nervous about that.

Surgery told me to call the midwife and leave message for her to get back with me to set up visit. I've left 2 messages in 2 days with no callback. This doesn't bode well for future care, does it? *sigh*

  • Chopsticks, I had a normal scan with Poppy when I was 10w I wouldn't expect anything different. Lots of good luck! :D

Oh my, I really don't feel like getting jiggy at all with this HUGE bump and I know for sure DH gets freaked out by knowing there is a baby in there too! And its a HUGE turn off if baby kicks or dares to move! Not worth the hassle really!;).

    Hi All

Just a quick note from me, all my worrying about wearing 'the wrong trousers' was completely unjustified!! My manager didn't even ask why I had black on instead of my Greenies. I did tell her after about 10 mins of being in about not being able to hack those others any more she just told me not to worry about it and it didn't matter.
Guess what though, Two people from head office turned up hehe. Of all the days to come, they come when i'm in. They did only stop briefly though and it was just to check a new product that we have is displayed correctly (I mean we are obviously incapable of following a picture planogram aren't we!!!!!!!!!)

Welcome to anyone who has newly joined the board, sorry haven't read right back through the posts, but noticed some new names.

I am off to bed now as I am shattered. Worked till six, came home cooked dinner, washed kids and got them into bed, and since then haven't moved of comp, and managed to FINALLY start my assignment and get it half completed.

Hi all.. Having a bit of a down day today so didn't want to post just to moan but I'm going to do it now anyway!

I'm just a bit fed up.. fed up of not knowing, fed up of feeling ill in the evenings and fed up of the house being a mess. Feels like I swap all day at work for all evening feeling rough so I never have the energy to do anything around the house and subsequently it looks like a bomb has hit it :(

OH is looking after me in a running around making me food and drinks sense but he's got a hard job, working much longer and harder than me, so I don't really feel like I can ask him to do more around the house. He's off work for the next few days so I have a feeling he might end up tidying the place up but I don't want to presume. I just want a magic fairy to come in and do it all!

Other reason to moan is my boobs are killing! Wearing a soft bra is turning out to being no better for the pain. Feels like I have needles constantly being stuck into them from all sides! Anyone got any tips for easing it? Hot, cold, or different type of bra? (I don't want to take paracetamol though). I'm normally a 34D but the band on the 34D soft bra I was wearing today was feeling rather tight.

Also feeling bad because I haven't managed to eat as much fruit and veg as I should be having and swallowing the Pregnacare tablets has been a bit of a trial. I think I'm going to go back to the small folic acid tablets - will ask OH to pick some up for me tomorrow.

Moan, moan moan.. really sorry :(

ETA: Prawns.. my dad gets prawns from the fish market on the docks as close as possible to the time of eating (one of the few advantages of living in Grimsby!) and we usually have them on Xmas Day morning / for Xmas lunch starter (so he'll get them on Xmas Eve). Do they (the medical advice people!) say prawns are okay as long as you know they are fresh, or should they be avoided all together? I think I'll pass on a mega prawn cocktail, but can I get away with having maybe ten max in the morning?

Morning Elle (and all who follow)

Sorry you're feeling down at the moment. I went through a similar sounding phase in weeks 8 to about 12 but just woke up one morning full of life again. Hopefully you'll get the same soon.

As for the prawns - I've eaten them. So long as you know they are fresh and properly cooked you'll be fine. I think the concern is more in pre prepared food where you have no idea how well its been cooked or how long its been sitting around...

That's me at 31+0 today. Got midwife this afternoon.

    Oh elle

Hope you have a better day today. I felt exactly how you do from week6/7 until week 14ish...It took all my strength just to drag myself through the day, all I wanted to do was sleep or at least just lay around on the sofa. BUT it does get better, honestly..I have had loads of energy since about week 18. I feel like I could run a marathon, although I am about to enter the 3rd trimester tomorrow, so not sure how long that is going to last!!

Elle regarding the prawns, I don't like fish, except fish fingers! so I wouldn't eat them. But I don't exactly stick to the 'rules'. But I am always very wary of fish type foods as I know quite a few people who have had bad tums after eating a dodgy fish dish

Well I would usually be in work today but am going to spend the day going back and to the school instead. Drop both off at 8.45am, back for 10am for ds2 xmas play, back again for 1pm for ds1 xmas play and back again at 3.15pm to pick them both up...Even though I have loads of energy I am going to be shattered after all that.

On the plus side, I will have a bit of time in-between to get that darned Assignment done, It is giving me nightmares now (oh no, I was having nightmares anyway, wasn't I)
