Rmel - don't worry unless you get hairy hobbit feet to go with your hobbit appetite! Some days I am sure the baby is having a growth spurt. One day last week I even had to make myself another tea because the first one didn't touch the sides! Then I woke up convinced my bump was bigger than it was when I went to bed!

    Hehe, I haven't checked my feet in a while....maybe a job for dh later:p

    hey girls.

someone mentioned to me that my doc wouldnt wanna know about me being pregnant, to just see my community midwife, but i phoned the doc's this morn and asked the receptionist, and in my surgery it has to go through your doctor. so have an apptment tomorro afternoon at 1.30. im nervous! lol. strange how the nhs works differently!?!!

i was lying in bed last night, coudnt sleep, thining about lots of stuff.....
tryin to remember my last period. and i really cant. i know it was before halloween, so does that mean im roughly about 7 weeks or so?!? im taking it that my last period was bout the 2nd week in october. im so confussled. and is it still at 12 weeks you get your 1st scan??

last time i was pregnant i *knew* even before taking the test - my breasts etc were all different, but this time, i feel the same. think this is worrying me, i know all pregnancies are different. i think im just worrying.

  • Mel - I am constantly starving. Just this morning I have had a pear, 3 crumpets and 2 breakfast bars and I could honestly eat it all again in a second.

AF - its a lot of money to spend if you are not sure and hubby isn't fussed. Your mum will understand I am sure.

I worry because I get sick of bubba kicking me and wonder if this means I will have no patience with him when he is born - deep inside I know I am being ridiculous but having something to worry about makes me feel strangely better IYSWIM.

NMSaver - early stages is when I had most questions!

Mel - add an apple to my list - ate whilst I was typing this!!

  • I sure I will have lots of questions to come, but at the moment it doesn't feel real. I don't have my first MW appointment until Jan 8th - by then I'll be 10 weeks

Just had a kitkat... was about the only edible choice in the vending machine at work... *sigh* - I haven't actually been that keen on chocolate so far but that was quite nice - couldn't eat another one tho... just sat eyeing up the fruit selection we get here in the office... I might have to go liberate a satsuma, an apple and a banana ;) shame they never get grapes really... Could murder some grapes...

Hi Carla - you won't believe how differently the nhs works across the country - some of the ladies here don't even get 12 week scans!!

A quick calc on babycentre tells me that if your last period started on say 13 October 2008, you would be due on 20 July 2009 (if your cycle was average length) and you would currently be 8 weeks pregnant (as of today!)

My colleague had no symptoms whatsoever until she was about 20 weeks (when she put on a little bit of weight) - I thought it was impossible but she swears blind that there was no indication... It does happen.

Has anyone had a massage whilst pregnant? I know I'm getting money from my parents to spend on "treating myself" for Christmas and I'm contemplating spending some of it on a massage. It's mostly my back and waist area which is hurting right now (I think it's a posture thing and too much slobbing on the sofa!). I've found this - http://www.aquavivahealth.co.uk/therapies/pregnancy.html - for a place in town. What do you all think? :)

I do massage - and have had pg ladies as clients. The therapist does need to be aware you are pg when you book - but if you are booking a pg massage they will do :p If aromatherapy based there are some oils to definitely avoid and some to avoid if previous m/c or any spotting. I err on the side of caution and stick with 1 or 2 ess oils at half dose to normal (max) in a non allergenic base (ie; not nut based ones). Have to say that that's what all my clients are getting at the mo too :D I'm more cautious with this pg than with others due to the frequent spotting/ bleeding.

Don't be afraid about checking their qualifications!

As Mrs T says, you can't have deep massage in lower back area - but it depends why yr lower back is hurting - sometimes it can be referred pain from a really tight area higher up yr back - in which case if the therapist can release that area, they can then do a light massage on lower back and that should be ok.

Some therapists will not touch pg ladies in first trimester if thay have had a m/c. It all depends on their training and insurance. Don't be afraid to grill them about this. There are people who can offer aromatherapy massage (for example) having done a home study course and then 1 day's 'training' on massage. Others will have studied for years and continue to update their professional studies with CPD.

    Sorry to go on :o

Greent - it's a shame you don't live closer to me... At the moment I feel like I could go for a massage every week!!! Ah well £25 for half an hour (although if they're not busy you get a bit longer hehehe) isn't too bad and it does help my neck and shoulders it has to be said... Actually might book another one whilst I remember ;)

    Big post warning!
Elle: I had a few massages last time as I became allergic to my false nails so spent the money I usually did on those on a nice rub ;) I had them at the place I go for my eyebrows/tans/nails as its a mates place, she just used plain oil as lots aren't safe in preg, but once my bump got bigger I couldn't lie on my tum anymore :(

AF: I'm suposed to avoid peanuts too but frankly there's so much eczema/asthma/hayfever on both sides I decided that me not eating peanuts wouldn't make any difference - bub would end up with something anyway!
I like bramble jelly on my pb n j's but (here come the weird bit) I have to spread one piece with jelly and one with pb then squish them together after :D
And my reason for not wanting the 3d scan is the same! it feels like cheating to me, I want the 1st time I see bubs face to be in the flesh

r.mac yep cooked cheese is fine as the cooking kills the bugs

AM: maybe you can convice grandma to buy Aston a sheep outfit? they have them in tesco - soo cute
and your dog do NOT let her out without being on the lead and no where near boy doggies for 2 full weeks (an be prepared for lots of howling dogs hanging around outside for at least the next week) - I've heard of some people putting nappies on their dog when they're in season, but you should be able to have her spade for free by pdsa/rspca after xmas - unwanted puppies are not fun
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.
