Hi everyone, I'm after a little advise if anyone can help.

I stopped taking the pill in February and my periods are really hit and miss, sometimes months without any, if I get on it's either a couple of weeks long or short and patchy. My doctor started me on Metformin a couple of months ago as I also have PCOS. Becuase of not know when my period is due I take a test every now and again to check I'm not pregnant (it's difficult with no regular periods to judge).

Well I took a test this morning and it was positive. I then followed it by another 2 tests which were also both positive. I went straight to the doctor and all he did was check my blood pressure and arrange for me to see the midwife. Is it normal for them not to test at the surgery.

Also how do I know when I conceived? I had a period 11/09 - 27/09 then I had a patchy light one 10/11 - 14/11 (the doctor said this might not have ben a 'proper' period)

I'm still in shock, this is my 1st baby and I can't believe the results this morning.

    Thanks for your help everyone.

    Congrats!

Yes it's normal for them not to check - to be honest the home test kits are as accurate as anything your doctor will test anyway :)
As your periods are so up in the air they might decide to book you in for an early dating scan - did he say anything about your due date when you saw him?
I would say that chances are the "light" period you had was probably the implantation bleed but that's just a guess :) That means they'll probably work from the 10/11 for the purposes of calculating your due date until you have had a dating scan

no, i'm not feeling okay :D that is why my friend came with me becuase she said i would never buy them unless she made me. i took the last two off the shelf. i was looking at doing the order online, but didn't really need anything else to justify getting the price up over the free delivery mark.

the socks in one of my packs blue (i didn't check the other but it does have blue socks on the box), is that the same for everyone else? when bubs arrives in March and I have a girl, i will have to see who might want them (MFD????)

I agree with Mrs Tine ;) (she's very wise)
another option is to get a clear blue test with conception inidactor http://www.clearblue.info/uk/conceptionindicator.php
It tells you that you either concived 1-2 wks, 2-3wks or 3+wks ago so if you concived less than 3 wks ago it will make it much clearer for you, you can then work out your due date from approx date of conception here http://www.amazingpregnancy.com/duedate/index.html
if when you have 12wks scan they believe you to be 7 or more days out they'll adjust your due date then

Thanks MrsTine. I think my boyfriend was a bit dissappointed that the doctor didn't test me as he wanted something difinitive. But I guess 4 home tests are pretty conclusive eh?

The doctor didn't say anything about my due date at all. I'd love to know how far along I am. The excitement is killing me. To think that by the summer I could have a baby. Today is like a bit of a dream, nothing seems real yet.

Mine were blue on the edgey bit, not too much for me to bother about putting them on a girl tho (then again I think if we do have a girl she will prob be forced to wear Chris's hand me downs anyway lol) - is that cruel?

AF did you see my link before about names?
