My other top tip for ebay is if you can, find your item in an auction thats ending at a silly time like 6am on a tuesday, your more likely to win those - but of course when its something that there's not loads of you can't do that :(

I have no doubt that hubby was feeling awful but i was playing nurse maid all morning sunday and all he did was snipe at me and be generally rude and grumpy, then everythime he coughed he followed it with a grrr of anger so that just annoyed me even more. the final straw was he refused to move his work van that blocks the car on the drive so I couldn't go round to see my mum so I was like sod you!

oh no! just had email from next saying the vat reduction will be passed on to customers and starts today. I only blooming spent about £70 in there on friday! my maths brain isn't working this morning so don't know what I would have saved but any saving is good! plus I'd got Christopher's xmas outfit it cost £31  :shhh:don't tell hubby! I think it would of had the vat off as it was from the posh signature range its gorgeous tho! a purple shirt, tie and jumper and black pants with braces and they've got pink lining to contract his shirt soo cute! I'd see if there's a link but next doesn't work on my web book :(

    morning all

Just a quick question. For those with children already - have any of you followed (however loosely) the Gina Ford Contented Baby routines? I know this could start quite a debate but I have just read her book and it got me thinking (always dangerous!)......

Also - as this is mse (!) I'm looking for some costs advice and recommendations:

    1. I need to stock up on baby and mum toiletry essentials. Am I better to go for Boots for choice and advantage points or do you find the supermarket cheaper?

    2. I am NOT buying or wearing those hideous paper/disposable pants. SO going to buy some really cheap cotton pants - any good recommendations on fit/place to buy? I keep hearing about primark, but haven't got one in Eidnburgh yet.

right - you may now resume idle chitchat about christmas decorations, cars and comedians. Oh and I like Michael McIntyre too :D

I haven't read the Gina Ford book, however, I am a stickler for routine with my babies, they eat, sleep, cry and poop when I tell them they can!!:p. No, but seriously, there are so many different parenting styles I think it is best to have the kind of style in mind but to be flexible.
We are fairly strict parents, and kind of balance each other out, as I am strict on mealtimes and bedtimes, brushing teeth etc (practicalities I suppose), dh is strict on behaviour....our boys seem to have turned out OK:rolleyes:

Regarding toiletry essentials, I have always just added the stuff in with my weekly shop, even before baby arrives I add the odd bag of wipes or nappies or baby bath in. For mum you will need to stock up on maternity pads (asda/tesco) If you are breastfeeding you will need breast pads and nipple cream, if not you will need Savoy Cabbages!!

Knickers, I always just buy a couple of Asda's cheapy basic ones, only a few quid and last great.

Kiddies clothes don't have VAT on them...although the prices some shops charge you wouldn't think so would you

brilliant MrsTine - hadn't thought of there. We have both asda and tesco ;)

I bought tesco ones. £2.50 for a pack of 5 I think and they were very comfy

I know but it say in the small print "Vat is not applicable on most childrenswear items" so I'm think maybe the premium stuff does:confused: I can't believe the shirt, tie, jumper combo was £20  and I still bought it :o

    Hmmm, maybe then Sami.

That set is soooooo sweet though, I saw it when I was in my local Next the other day.

I am so convinced I am having a boy I was looking around at all the boys baby stuff, asweel as the big kids boys for my two. I was only meant to be buying a little girly outfit for my friends new baby!!

  • OMG - did you ladies really post 12 pages over the weekend??

Off to catch up on the gossip but before I do...

Been to the hospital this morning for my extra consultant appointment (because I had heart problems at the beginning of my pregnancy). All is fine - in some ways it was a waste of time but they did take my 28 week bloods (so the MW should have the results for me next week...not exactly sure what they were stealing my blood for  )

I have also been referred to the physio because my pelvic pain, I have been having clicking noises and the odd shooting pain for a while but after (ahem) overdoing it a little yesterday I was in agony :o . Apparently the appointments can take a while to come through so I may be in dire need of it by the time it gets here.

Other than that, everything is fine.
Hope everyone is well - off to read through!

I'm not sure what you mean here as all you will need for bubs is a big tub of sudacream and I use johnsons soft wash and shampoo 1 of the large bottles lasts about 3 months ;)I get all mine from asda or the local cheepo shop

Sami - I have a list of things such as sudacream, cotton wool balls, maternity pads, breast pads, lanisoh cream (sp?) and haven't purchased any nappies yet either. I wondered if a big boots delivery with their points and promotions is better or whether a big supermarket online shop is the way to go - wondering how others do it/plan on doing it really I'm nosey!:rotfl:

Hope the wait for Physio isn't too bad MFD.

I'm nervous, got first Physio appointment this afternoon! Can't bring myself to use the crutches outside, I know I should but I feel like a right idiot using them. Seeing the consultant on Wednesday, then having first session of Pyschotherapy on Friday. Busy week!

Oh, and I'm half way today!!
