morning all
Just a quick question. For those with children already - have any of you followed (however loosely) the Gina Ford Contented Baby routines? I know this could start quite a debate but I have just read her book and it got me thinking (always dangerous!)......
Also - as this is mse (!) I'm looking for some costs advice and recommendations:
1. I need to stock up on baby and mum toiletry essentials. Am I better to go for Boots for choice and advantage points or do you find the supermarket cheaper? I'm not sure what you mean here as all you will need for bubs is a big tub of sudacream and I use johnsons soft wash and shampoo 1 of the large bottles lasts about 3 monthsI get all mine from asda or the local cheepo shop
2. I am NOT buying or wearing those hideous paper/disposable pants. SO going to buy some really cheap cotton pants - any good recommendations on fit/place to buy? I keep hearing about primark, but haven't got one in Eidnburgh yet.
I have no idea who came up with the idea that you need those hideous things! I used my usual plain black n white briefs from tesco about £2 for a pack of 7 - I didn't have to throw any away after - but you will need specifically "maternity towels" not sanitary towels for the first week or 2 (I used about 3 packs before moving on to norm towels I think)
right - you may now resume idle chitchat about christmas decorations, cars and comedians. Oh and I like Michael McIntyre too
Hope That Helps x :j0 -
r.mac not sure about the book but i would say get a routine in asap as it will be great and you know what to do and when and the baby will settle easier(well has worked in my experience) also i know people love to sit and hold baby for hours on end but dont! most of my visitors werent impressed as i left him in his basket and told them he wasnt to be lifted apart from changing and feeding! oh im so nasty eh but i learnt through experience!
buy cheap knickers from anywhere i wouldnt buy disposables as they would just rip????
double pram is it just a buggy or pram i got a phil and teds brand new from ebay very very cheap also got all the accessories, also try kiddicare? What's for you won't go past you0 -
oh before i forget hosp will prob tell you but for the first 2/3 days after the baby is born wear 2 pads one on top of the other as its usually terrible? What's for you won't go past you0

I would suggest you have a look at whats on offer and then decided which 2 or 3 you like hen start searching websites, ebay, and local independants - I'm afraid there is no easy solution unless you have a baby show coming up next one is in london in feb/march http://www.thebabyshow.co.uk/ you can pick up a bargin at the show particularly on the last day - Good Luck!
Mel and Caz: thanks for your thoughts, fingers crossed for you Mel I just hope that as long as any medical peeps say we've got our probs "under control" that we'll be ok xx
Welcome home AF! Hows the cold? My hubby has been such a grump all weekend with his:rolleyes:0 -
r.mac there is definitely a Primark in Glasgow if you are going over there in the near future (Know as went there just over a year ago :rotfl: infact it was my MIL who introduced me to Primark and that exact shop to be exact!)
Personally I don't see any problems with Asda and Tesco knickers
r.mac there is also one is Dunfirmline and its quite big too. I always thought it was quite strange having such a big store for such a small town xDS Anthony Steven 07.06.92DD Becky Emma 24.01.94DD Rose Grace Jean 12.05.090 -
oh ps. This morning's xmas appeal is for helping the elderly I cried this morning just at the little 30 sec taster clip
I'm an emotional wreck! and they've got Richard Briers on I love him! I wish he was my granddad he's just so lovely xx
Oh and just to show how much you loose in terms of needing a pad, after Chris was worn I had a shower and got chnaged before walking from deliv room to ward (about 50 metres) I had used one of the hosp pads and accidentally shoved it in upside down as they don't have a sticky bit. in that 1 minute from room to room I had leaked through my nicks, nightie and dressing gown and had to put my dirty nightie back on and mum took everything back home to wash for me - Mums are great aren't they!0 -

Hi Sami,
Think I needed a few days off, so thanks for the welcome.
I thought I was at the end of the cold last week, but it seems to want to hang around.
If your hubby is anything like mine, then he has the cold worse than anyone has ever had it before (got to love man flu).
I had a meeting with my boss this morning, unexpected, and i had to leave at one point becuase of coughing and go and get some water. So embarassed!!!
Was it anyone on here that one the hypnobirthing book and cd on ebay over the weekend? I missed the end of the auction again, so i think i am just going to get one of them on the 'buy it now' as the auctions dont seem to be falling much short.

oooohhh... i have heard of snipping, but i usually do it myself, but of course this program is good becuase you dont have to be there.
there aren't any more listed for auction at the minute, so i might wait or buy it brand new. can't make a decision0
