  • Sami - I've got dermotillomania, pretty similar to what you've got, but skin instead of hair. Do you have OCD too? They are very closely linked according to my Pysch - the skin picking is related to the 'pure' OCD I have. Some good information here: http://www.ocdaction.org.uk/ocdaction/index.asp?id=14 My skin picking and OCD has stayed the same while pregnant, whereas every other crazy problem I have has got a lot better.

  • I've already had a few lessons, I can drive okay, just haven't practiced parking and turning enough. I was learning until the morning sickness kicked in and I stopped. I might phone my instructor and ask what she thinks - its just the emergency stop I'm worried about.

I was having lessons too until the terrible morning sickness, Oh well I cant be doing with the stress right now, it'll have to wait until after baby comes. Which is rubbish as I want to steal OH shiny new BMW hehe, Although I am soo scared it soo big! Only driven it once and I dread the thought of parking it! He has a company car so once I pass its all mine yipee, just have to keep fingers crossed I dont bump it! :o

Thanks Feelie - I knew if anyone would under stand it would be you :)
I've never been diagnosed as I've never had the courage to tell anyone other than OH but I'm not one of those people who flippantly says "I always have to check the door's locked, I'm so OCD"
I have always had some sort of mental health related problem IMHO but when I was young my mum refused to allow any professionals to see me and I supose that has made me so unable to seek help now:confused: I suffer panic attacks, hair pulling and have rituals and checks I do all the time and if I can't do them or finish one I have a paddy like a toddler or just start crying uncontrollably. I'm also sure I had PND after chris but I'm so used to "acting normal" in frount of others it wasn't spotted and there is no way I would admit it to HV, I just can't its like if I try to say it out loud no sound comes out

  • Sami - would it be possible to write a letter instead of saying it outloud? Sometimes its really hard to just find the words, but if you can write it down and just hand it over, it can be a bit less scary. They are used to people doing it, so might be worth a shot? Its very scary to ask for help that first time, but its gets easier, and it definitely is worth it. Perhaps a first step would be to write the letter you would give the MW or HV or GP. Not with the intention of giving it to them, but just to get out what the problem is. ((Hugs))

I'm definitely a if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all kinda girl - unless its face to face with someone I know who wants truth not niceties

sami in one way or another each of us has our own little thing and the fact that you told us means your one step close to asking for help!(not that we are real or anything pmsl:D) im one of these volcano people i go about like nothing is wrong building it up and up until one day i just explode and then my world comes crashing down. OH is the only one who has seen me like this and i dont think people would believe what i can be like.

i think i had PND that has never been treated and also i lost my nephew 2 christmas' ago which made me really down and done i something totally stupid and out of character. i nearly lost my OH and kids due to this but at the time i really didnt care. what made it worse was that i was at the hosp and went to say goodbye to my nephew and TBH i wish i hadnt worst thing i ever done. i feel that i try to stay away from everyone hence the move to nowhere and just live with me oh and kids? see we are not all perfect???? feels strange telling you lot this as not many people know xx
What's for you won't go past you

Hubby does remind me sometimes that being "normal" is weird coz no one is totally "normal"
