Elle the red top one gets sent to the hosp for a more detailed test for infection, some MWs don't bother if your dipstick test is clear for protein, if you have a spare normal sample pot or can nip in gp's for one you can take 2 with you (make sure they mid stream) and then tip one into a red top pot when you see her :)

Does a high BMI rule out having a home birth? With the whole pain relief thing, I'm wondering if it'd be better to just give birth at home.
I dont think so, my neighbour is alot bigger than me (although she swears she's a size 16  ) and was told she can have a homebirth, it was actually recommeded as she's on her 4th baby, and it would probably just fly out if she sneezed! but now she's expecting twins she aint allowed.

I had my midwife appointment today, my BP has gone back to normal so thats good.
It took a while to find Warren's heartbeat as he wouldn't stop moving!
Got my consultant appoinment at 22 weeks after my scan then another one booked with her at 26 weeks.

How often do you lt have midwife/consultant appointments?
My mate who lives in the next borough hasnt got another one until 28 weeks, she's just had her 16 week check.

we have 3 boxes of equipment and 2 bottles of gas and air delivered at 28 weeks and it stays with you until 32 weeks, we have to notify insurance company of having this in the house and we will be shown how to use it in case of an emergency!

toto that sounds like you had a few useless midwives, i had one last labour at hosp i kept saying i was pushing and she kept writing her notes it wasnt until there was a woosh with my waters breaking and baby being born at the same time. saying that 40 mins between entering the car park and having a baby in your arms was a bit of a shock lol! we are lucky as there are a team of 6 and i get to meet them all before delivering, they also do home visits to get to know you and where everything is. i dont think i would advise HB first time around as you really dont know what to expect and labours tend to be longer but if thats what you want then go for it!

AM - for Low Risk Women here, you see MW at 8, 16, 28, 34, 36, 38 and 41. First timers also see MW at 25, 31 and 40. Scans at 12 and 20. I'm seeing consultant at 20 weeks, no idea if I'll see them more or have any other scans.
    Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.
  • Oh my! Toto! What an awful experience . I really admire women who opt for a HB but I could never do it as I really needed all the pain relief that was on offer :o and it was astonishing how many people treating me whilst in labour and during the emergency delivery :D.

Hope you and Lily are doing well.

    :wave:Hi, Caz! I'm still here!

 Baby is 8lb 2oz!!!

I ended up being in hospital for 2 hours as there was protein in my wee and my BP was high (probably due to the news I had just received :rotfl:).

Had to be hooked up to the BP machine for an hour and have baby's HB monitored but thankfully my BP went down. I do, however, have another water infection so more antibiotics and have been sent home to do yet another 24 hour wee collection :D. Nice.

Have to go back tomorrow to return my wee :o and have more blood taken and my BP. And then as from Friday the MW has to do a home visit every other day to check my BP!

Consultant was not overly worried about the size and said its not an exact science (just like Sami & Toto said :T) so no sign of an early inducement just yet but I have to see him again next Tuesday for reassessment.

    xxx
