Morning all.. (unusual for me to surface in the morning on a Sunday!)

We've got loads of snow! I was intending to go shopping this morning but have realised I want lots of heavy things and don't fancy pushing a big trolley around so I'll wait until OH gets home from work. I suspect we might be going shopping for thermals for OH too - he'll be freezing when he gets in :(

Can I ask.. all this loosening tendons in the early days - what does it actually feel like? The pains I'm getting (which lead to the scan) were like a stitch inside my left hip and general acheyness inside my pelvis, plus some period-pain type cramps across the front which I knew to expect. Just curious what the tendons thing feels like or if you don't notice it going on :)
  • Elle - for me, it started like a dull ache across the bottom of my bump - below the trouser line, and right the way across. If you are worried, give the Midwife a call tomorrow and explain what it feels like - probably is just things loosening up, but its nice to have reassurance.

Thanks FG :) Just to say, I'm not worried, just nebby and curious.

The scan has put my mind at rest that it's not ectopic, so any other aches and pains I'm just putting down to "normal" pregnancy stuff (whatever normal is!) :D
  • I think I'm finally used to all the aches and pains and weird sensations. Pregnancy is very odd isn't it! I didn't realise how much is involved with it.

I definitely feel pregnant. No visible bump, but I can feel it, and I've got a general feeling of having something large and solid in my belly. Very strange.

OH is off out to the petrol station to buy me icecream shortly!

Breastfeeding is not working too well for me either. She gets on ok but its just too sore. I showed the midwife last week how she was getting on and shes on fine, my nipples just cant cope with it! Ive been expressing and its a right pain having to pump all the time. Just bought an electric one to see if that makes it any easier. Gave myself a couple of days there where I didnt breastfeed at all to let me heal a bit and then tried her tonight. Managed half an hour before I was in agony and had to get her a bottle again. Im having to use some formula too as I cant keep up with the pumping. Being a mummy is hard work and its only been 2 weeks today!

    Emma :)

Has her mouth been examined properly? sometimes they get a thrush infection on the tongue which can pass on to your nipples and make them very painful when feeding. If her tongue is white that does not clear an hour or so after a feed it could be. Also under her tongue or if its not loose enough (a tongue tie) will cause irregular latch which is painful. sometimes nipple shields are worth a try too, you can get them from Boots. It is soooo hard in those first few weeks, but with the help available sometimes can make it easier. You should have met your health visitor by now she can help too. And the local breastfeeding group will be an excellent resource, which is free. (MSE) Also the electric pumps usually can be lent out from these groups which is very MSE..

Its so wet today, wish it was snow! but its just rain rain rain!!!! still feeling sicky and the fresh bleeding has stopped. I have to be quite detached because of the spotting, keep thinking each week is a bonus and I am not 100% expecting to make it to 12 weeks. But it seems to be going quicker now.
    have a great sunday

Nicole, IMO, anyone who is 100% convinced they'll make it to 12wks is rather naive.. I'm amazed by the number of people (not here but on other forums I've read) who aren't in the slightest bit edgy about something going wrong. Even my colleagues this week were saying "what makes you think that pain could be something bad? it would never have crossed my mind it could be ectopic". Maybe it's just me being the type who likes to know what's going on and the full picture, bad stuff included. I think it's just a case of rising above it and being detached like you say.. finding the right balance :) (PS I know I'm not one to talk as I have panicked at every little thing, but the above is my new outlook.. honest! ;))

Really hope everything goes well for you :) xxx

I've no idea how women hold it together before 12 weeks. I don't think I'd have dared get out of bed had I known I was pregnant. Just hope that my next pregnancy is a suprise too!
