    Hi all,
Just a flying visit, to say hi to everyone.
I've been pretty busy lately, and now am off to my nans anual birthday bash, it's gonna be mentalist, but I love it!
Baby warren is fine, 18+5, kicking the hell out of me and my bump seems to have grown massive in the last week! :j

i breastfed fine with middle 2 but did not succeed with baby 1 and had a lt of trouble with no 4, they were both greedy guzzling babies and too lazy to work for the milk? expressing is great as you know they are still getting the goodness! however after a bad case of mastitus(sp?) i gave up last time.
What's for you won't go past you

Thanks so much, I would love for her to feed from me, I'll try the bath thing today. I really do appreciate all of your advice.

The NCT often have Breastfeeding Counsellors, are you a member?

I've got lots of books on breastfeeding (my Mum was a BF Counsellor and very pro BFing) and they all say not to panic. You can get BFing established quite a while after the birth, so make sure you relax and take it at your pace.

    Best of Luck :)

Can I join in please? I was a member back in 2006 when Bailey started the original club and we had a girl - Imogen - on Boxing Day that year. I'm now pregnant with baby #2 and hoping things continue to be straight-forward as I'm not 'safe' yet. I do feel more pregnant that I ever did at this stage with Imogen - wind, sickness, tiredness, a bump for goodness' sakes!

Looking forward to the mutual support again, it was invaluable last time.

So all in all, not the best day for me! Still I'm a bit more relaxed now about bubs being back to back, its not the end of the world, will just go with the flow! If the pain gets too bad and it doesn't move in labour, will have to overcome the fear and have an epidural, the thoughts of needles will be forgotten if the pains that bad! So no due date baby for me...... send some nice labour vibes my way ladies, don't fancy waiting for induction on 5th Dec!

    Hugs to all x

Rosie - Imogen was back to back (not that we knew that in advance). I don't want to scare you so look away now if you don't want some details about what it MIGHT do to your labour.

Still with me? Okay. My labour was off and on for 5 days, mainly overnight. I coped at home for 2 of them and, despite not a lot of sleep, felt okay. The contractions weren't too bad most of the time. I went in to the birth unit where I was booked three times and was sent home twice even though my contractions were close together as I wasn't much dilated. We still didn't know at this point that she was back to back.

On the final time I used a lot of gas and air and got in the pool, which really helped. By now the contractions weren't the problem as they came and went, my back pain was the big problem as it didn't go away. Apparently she was not only progressing downwards but was trying to turn through 180 degrees at the same time.

Long story short I had a 'blues and twos' trip to the local maternity ward as the birth unit was midwife-led and there was a suspicion of LO having an infection, as well as me starting not to cope with the pain. My first words on the ward were "epidural now" and I had practically drained the gas & air on the ambulance as I was taking it constantly instead of with my contractions.

After 17 hours of established labour I had an emergency section as she still hadn't turned properly and I was 9.5cm dilated. I never got to push.

What I now know is that back to back labours tend to be long and drawn out, with back pain a major sympton. Imogen looked like she'd been ten rounds with Mike Tyson as her face had been pressed against various boney bits inside me. This took at least 2 weeks to settle, although we still thought she was beautiful!

Not sure if this was any help? I had a birth plan and had wanted it to be as natural as possible with as little time as possible anywhere other than home. I ended up with drugs to speed up my contractions, antibiotics, 3 epidurals and a spinal block, an emergency section and 3 days in hospital!

This time, I'll just be going with the flow. I wanted a home water birth but OH has ruled that out cos it was too traumatic seeing me in that much pain last time.

I was a bit naughty (and not very mse, i'm afraid) I had a buy now pay later for my catalogue, so I got a few bits including a Graco baby swing, which is 2 in 1 swing and bouncer....it has vibrate, music and electric swing modes, it looks great.

I am planning on paying it off before it is due to start payments on it, so won't be charged any interest (I know catalogues are dearer anyway) I just really wanted it!!

    Hi all..

I'm having such a lazy day. Slept in until half two and I'm still not dressed! Do Morrisons have a dress code, or do you think I could go in my PJs to save me getting dressed at all today? ;) Last night our friends were saying "get as much sleep as you can before you have a baby" (they still don't know).. think I took it too literally!

Congrats to Lu T. I've been waiting for ages for someone to add themselves to the list and me not be bottom anymore, but judging by the EED re-estimate I had yesterday, I'm now looking at 21st July so I'd still be bottom! :( Waiting until 12wks before I change it though.

Really glad your scan went well MollyTW. Have you got a date through for your 12wk-ish NHS one yet?

Thanks elle_gee! I am still waiting for my NHS one, I have my booking in with midwife on 2nd December, so I will probably hear after that. I will hopefully get the scan before xmas - (I turn 12 weeks on 12/12/08), but knowing how long I have had to wait for a midwife appointment, I doubt it  .

Last time, when I went for my booking in appointment, they had all my notes there ready and the midwife had already phoned up and booked my scan for me so I got the time and date info when I was there - first thing they told me, actually! :)
