Actually, don't know why I'm laughing! :rotfl:Although I don't use straighteners, I did have my bag packed full of lovely Molton Brown (pre birth gift from DH) and my make-up, plus brand new overpriced but gorgeous pink maternity 3 piece PJ set from Mothercare.
AND there was no way on this earth that a camera was getting anywhere near me until all the abovementioned had been used and worn! :rotfl:.

Has anyone had any experience with changing midwives part-way through?
I'm still registered for GP appointments at the surgery in the village where I grew up. I moved about 18 months ago to the nearest town, about ten miles away, but as my parents still live in the village I've stayed registered with the same surgery. Both times I've been to register with the midwife, I've been asked for my address so I've had to give them my town one and have then been told they won't come out for any home visits before or after the birth (will just be one of the community midwives).
Both times I've also been asked if I want to have my ante-natal appointments/care at that surgery or at the hospital (which is actually very close to where we live). Both times I've said I'd rather stay with the surgery but now I'm having doubts. I was going to move surgeries when it came to registering the baby with a doctor but would it be a better idea to do it now and get my maternity care at the hospital? There is a mix of tiny surgeries and the big, new-build ones in town and I think I'd register at a small one (big ones are on the other side of town) so they probably wouldn't have their own midwife anyway.
Sorry, enough rambling... main question, has anyone changed mid-pregnancy?0 -
Morning all, hope you're all feeling fine today. My 1st stupid question of the day is are prawns safe to eat as I was planning them for dinner but I've now read conflicting advice as to if I should or shouldn'tYou laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same0

i had just written out a long post and then the forum signed me out!!!!!!!!
sorry tinkerbell, can't help with the prawn question as i don't eat them.0 -
Prawns CAN be safe but lots of MWs say no - personally I have eaten them when I know that they are fresh (when I have been by the sea) but I don't think I would have eaten them in the first 12 weeks (all personal opinion).
Everyone has to make their own decisions but I have generally erred on the side of caution, especially in the early days...I just kept thinking do I really want a prawn sandwich that much
Elle - my midwife might be changing in Jan (I am due early march)...I don't really see a problem with it. They are having a shake up in the local service so mine doesn't know if she will still be at my docs or not. To be honest, I see 3 or 4 different midwives when I go to aquanatal classes and they are all lovely.
