Sorry silly question but can I ask what all this 6+4 and 12+2 etc... means?

How far along you are, weeks+days :) (the day your period was due is 4+0 then you count from there).

Oh and I forgot to say - MW appoint for fit to fly letter was very easy (I am apparently a brilliant patient!) and no-one was interested in me at the airport. To the point where I thought no-one had noticed at all!

Oh.... apart from one lady security guard who wasn't convinced bump was real and so when I set the beeper off, she spent a lot of time feeling it to make sure I wasn't hiding anything. She asked me three times was I pregnant as well - all a little strange :D

  • Afternoon all!

    Congrats Bargin! How gorgeous!

I have gone into week 14 now. Got another check up on Friday to see if the twins are progressing nicely.

Apart from tiredness, my pregnancy has been easy going so far. This morning I have had low abdomen period type pain/feels like a permanently full bladder. Will monitor how it goes but it is probably the growing pains as the twins are developing!

Hope all is well for everyone!

  • Afternoon all,

I have just gone into week 14. Apart from tiredness, my pregnancy seems to be going fine. This morning though I have had low lying abdoment pain like light period pain/feeling like a full bladder. Will keep an eye on it.

Got an apointment at the hospital on friday for a check up on the twins. Hope we have another scan so we can see them again but probably not as had initial scan at 11 weeks, then nuchal scan at 13 weeks last Monday so probably won't see the little ones for a while now!

    Well I'm 6+1 then :D

I must admit I'm trying really hard not to get excited and we've decided not to tell people until the scan as I was told we couldn't have children.

Sorry for asking all these silly questions but I don't have any female friends to ask. I've got an appointment at the doctors this evening as I've stopped taking all of my tablets so just checking this is the right thing to do. Will it be a case of me telling him and then him booking me in for another appointment?

Also do they do the scans bang on 12weeks as I'm keen to tell people over Christmas when we see them?

    Thanks all for any advice

  • Afternoon everyone!

This pregnancy business has made me realise how utterly impatient I am!! :D

I went to see my GP when I first found out I was pregnant (4 weeks ago) and he told me to ring the midwife for booking in ASAP, which I did - but I could only get an appointment for the 2nd December  when I will be 10+4. And only after this appointment will I be referred to get a scan.

Well after talking to dh, we have decided we can't wait that long for a scan so I have just booked a private scan for this friday.

I can't wait :j , we have only told close family about pregnancy so far, as we were waiting for the scan just to confirm everything is ok before telling everyone else.
I really don't feel pregnant yet - apart from the nausea, lack of appetite, tiredness, sore boobies etc etc...:rotfl: .

    tinkerbelluk, I'm 6+3 :)

I haven't seen a GP (I don't have any issues with taking other tablets like you mention) but I have already been for a chat with the midwife (as I had a m/c a few months ago). At the time, it was just a chat and then she booked me an appointment for when I'll be 8+5 (she's only there on Wednesdays so it's the next Wed after 8wks) for the full booking in appointment which is when they do bloods, full history, BP, height and weight etc. All areas seem to be different though so you might end up having all this at the hospital when you have your first scan.

Your GP will probably tell you to book an appointment with the midwife and then maybe keep seeing you too (to monitor whatever condition you are/were taking the tabs for) :)

ETA: They do all the first scans between 10 and 11 weeks here. I'll be 12wks on Boxing Day, but should have my scan the week before that.

molly - don't worry about waiting to book in until 10wks or so.

where I am, you get your booking in appointment with your first scan - and that's the 16-20wks mark  Now that was a long wait :D
