Have you used these before? I've used tea and capsules and found them not very effective. Probably different for each person but would like to know what anyone else thinks! Tea was excellent, even drinking one cup you could feel the difference an hour later.
Hi tarajayne, no I didn't try anything last time around and ended up 2 weeks late and being induced (which was fine before anyone starts worrying!). I've only got them this time around as the mw said some people say they help. The lady in the health food shop said some people say it makes a difference second time around, but I don't know how much of that is down to having been through birth once before and everything being "stretched" anyway!? MW said capsules maybe easier to take than the tea as its supposed to taste awful!? I like my tea with milk and proper tea bags!
I figure there is no sure fire way of bringing bubs on otherwise no one would go overdue but thought there's no harm in trying!
Well done Emms - she's a beautiful bundle of joy x (That means I'm now 10th on the list eeekkkk! It absolutely flies past!) Its my mums birthday today and think she's a little disappointed this one hasn't graced her day with its arrival xProud mum to Matthew born 23/11/08 7lb 13ozand Rosie 12/01/05 7lb 9oz0 -

The tea is far from awful, its very nice! (I'm a regular fruit tea drinker in case that makes a diff) mine arrived too late for me to use it with Chris but I used to drink it just as I would any other fruit tea. It tastes fruity but if you didn't like the taste you could add a bit of fruit cordial to make is sweeter I used this make
The evidence behind it is on babycentre here
hope hat helps x0 -
thanks for that info sami_bee, I'm now thinking I've left it a bit late seeing as I'm 38 + 3 but never mind! TBH that was the only thing available in town, holland and barrett didn't have either and there was only one other shop that sold them xProud mum to Matthew born 23/11/08 7lb 13ozand Rosie 12/01/05 7lb 9oz0

Hi all.. Congrats to Emms!
I felt mega queasy this morning - several times I got up and headed to the loos (I'm lucky tho - my office is probably the closest to the loos so not far to run, or many people to pass on the way!). Am going to take a loaf of bread in tomorrow as I was fancying dry toast earlier and thought that might help.
When does the needing a wee lots start? Feels like it's started already, but then I have been drinking tea like it's going out of fashion (making tea is a distraction technique to get out of doing my filing!).
Mum is going to Boots for preg vitamins for me tomorrow.
On a money note, I've just done a couple of hours typing for a colleague and I'm getting paid for it with more to follow, so that's all money for the baby gear. Our friends' baby will be 15months by the time this one is born so we might be lucky there! My new evening mission is to make some boards up of magazine cuttings for house decorating ideas. With the help of my awesome mum and dad (thanks Mum if you're reading!), we are going to be able to spruce the house up before July but I need to work out what I want now in order to get bargains in the Jan sales!

OK so now I'm not so sure, just been reading the rest of the reader comments on the babycentre website and they all mention labours of about 2 hours OUCH (although most of them seem to have been drinking the tea?!)! DH says he's going to buy a baseball glove to catch bubs!Proud mum to Matthew born 23/11/08 7lb 13ozand Rosie 12/01/05 7lb 9oz0

Elle: be careful of your caffine intake with all that tea i think its six cups a day provided your not having any other source of caff0 -
elle unless it's de-caf tea you need to cut down on that!!
The maximum cups of tea should be 4 (or 2 cups of instant coffee or 5 cans of cola... bear in mind that things you might not think contain caffeine could contain more than you think - chocolate included...)
If you consume excessive amounts of caffeine your baby will be at significantly increased risk of haveing helth problems, lower birth weight and you will have an increased risk of miscarriage...
Sorry if that comes across really severe but it can be very serious if you consume too much!
Edited to add - some sites say 4 cups, some 6I'd say err on the side of caution...

Actually, yes, that did sound rather severe, given that I had a m/c three months ago and am, quite understandably, sh*tscared of having another one right now!
And, thank you for your concern, but obviously our perceptions are different - I'm making about seven cups of tea a day and drinking about half of each. It's very very rare that I drink to the bottom of a mug at work and I drink fruit juice at home.0 -
Congratulations, Emma and welcome to the world, Isla!!! :j
Oh, I can't wait for my baby to arrive now.
