  • No one has to explain their decisions here :). I actually went off tea and coffee really early on and have only recenlty started to have tea in a proper posh teacup! :rotfl:. I barely drink half of it too but have yet to fancy coffee for some reason  (even though I have a fab Nescafe Dolce Gusto courtesy of BzzAgent and make lattes for all my visitors  ;)).

I have had a few brie baguettes and some McFlurrys (slap my wrist!) but generally kept within the guidelines (which seem to change all the time ).

can I ask why mcflurrys are a no no?
I still eat unpasteurised cheeses, rare steak and runny yolk eggs - ooh I'm such a rebel!
The caffeine rule doen't affect me as I almost never have tea or cola and hate coffee same goes for tuna and liver - YUK

McFlurrys, and other soft whip icecream, have a risk of listeria. I knew about Mr Whippy and PizzaHut but I hadn't given a thought to McFlurrys until the midwife mentioned it (don't have them anyway - always melted and icky by the time I've had my burger and chips!)

ETA: Oh, babyworld says it's the risk of salmonella.. Hmm, midwife was mentioning so many things I got confused what was what (can remember what not to eat, just not why not!)

surely mcflurrys etc are made from pasteurised "stuff" I've seen our local mr whippy pouring his magic mix into the machine (that sounds slightly sinister doesn't it!) and it comes in a carton like UHT milk. hmmm oh well the one and only time I've had food poisoning it was from eating some turkey which had been in the fridge for about 2 weeks
I've been eating all the other stuff my entire life without getting ill so I really don't believe it will harm me now

I too have gone right off coffee. I've bought some de-caff tea so can drink away to my hearts content!

I think I'm having an 'unofficial' scan this week! I work on the ward where the EPAU clinic is run, and the lovely nurse said she would scan me! I told her it's made me a bit nervous as I file up all the notes of ladies who have had ectopics, m/c's etc. She said not to forget that it's a very condensed part of the population, and more than likely I will be fine.

As for morning sickness, I dont really feel nauseous, I just don't feel like eating some of the time. I feel like I couldn't stomach it.

Does anyone have one of these puschiars?

It looks more sturdy than the 3 wheeler zia. I don't think I'm having a travel system this time, I was just thinking of getting this puschair and then a normal Britax-type carseat.

Hope everyone has a good day!

    morning ladies,

    hope you are all well.

elle_gee : as for the MW confusing you with all the information...tell me about it. although i do remember thinking that most of things we are told we can't eat, i dont like anyway, except for the peanut rule which i followed until about 16 weeks. Admittedly i'm not scoffing peanuts or anything, but i'll have them if i fancy them.

speaking of food --- i have been eating too much cr*p over the last three or four days. must stop!!!! can't say i event enjoyed it, it was more out of convenience really. so this morning i am having a muller corner mixed with sultana bran. going to have that for lunch too and i have some apples to munch on.

i lost a fit of weight at the start due to feeling sick all the time as you know, and i know some of it has come back on (will get on the scales at the end of the week), but i dont want it to get out of control (due to BMI).

Bubs has been moving around quite a bit this morning. Strange thing is i was thinking about bubs and then all of a sudden i got this push around my belly button area and then another quite quick after. Wonder if s/he knew i was thinking about them (i always think they must know).

    xx
  • Morning all - congratulations Emma - Isla is a beautiful name and what a beautiful little girl she is!! Thank you for such a detailed birth story. I am fascintated by how 'green' your waters were - bright green or just a little green tinged?

Elle - there are much worse things than caffeine! I am sure the rules the midwife gave me were 8 cups of tea a day anyway...it changes by the day - don't give in to the scaremongers!

SB - I can't believe you have been eating brie  I love brie and stilton and goats cheese and I have been SO good! On Sunday I was practically in tears because I got the Morrisons Christmas food leaflet and it had camembert and goats cheese wedges in breadcrumbs in the party snacks section and I can't eat them :o Hubby had to promise that he would buy some and freeze them for me to calm me down - irrational, moi? NEVER

If I accidently buy some and eat them all SB it will be entirely your fault ;)

Only twice! :D. I'm veggie and really love my cheeses and its DH's fault! I asked for a Pret brie and basil baguette to be brought home, just to see what he would say ;), and he didn't think twice! So its on his conscience not mine :rotfl:.
