What sort of pain and whereabouts Lucifa? If its severe, I'd definitely give the midwives a call. Do you have an out-of-hours number?Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

Hi guys,
re vitamins in pregnancy, current reccomendations from department of health is that we take vitamin D you can read about it here: http://www.bounty.com/DoH:-vitamin-D-essential-for-pregnant-women.news/18415343
If you are on income support you can get them free from healthy start :

Ricketts has really increased particularly from dark skinned families, vit D comes from sun, and some fish and oils.

Midwife has refered me to the Physio, any idea what they'll do?Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

Krystal - there seems to be some silly rules with EPUs. I waited in a ward for four hours when I had bleeding, then the Sonographer came down and told me that the EPU was closed. I asked him if he could just take me up and scan me, but it was closed and he couldn't, despite being a qualified !sonographer!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

Probably give you some leaflets, some sexy tubagrip and advise on how to try and ease the pain, unfortunately there isn't much else that can be done.
I was given advise on my posture because of the bad pain in my lower back and the physio woman was quite shocked at how much my legs bend in the opposite direction at my knees.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
Well what I was feeling on Saturday morning was the real thing. Cramps started first thing in the morning. Had quite a bit of show overnight on Friday. We went to tescos about 12pm and had a wander round, was having cramps every 3 or so minutes at that point but they weren't really hurting at all. Called the hospital at about 2:30pm as it was starting to get a wee bit sore and they said to take some co-codomol and see how I got on. Managed just over an hour and a half before calling them back as it was getting much more painful by then and they said to come in if I wasnt coping, which I really wasnt. Had been wearing the tens machine but didnt really notice much help from it.
Got to the hospital about 5pm, and got checked out. Was already 4cms dilated by then. They asked if I wanted to try the pool so I thought I would give it a go. Got into it at about 5:30pm but was really struggling on just the gas an air. I was getting really bad lower back pain. I have always had bother with my lower back so I was really struggling with it. The worse pain was actually at my bum though. Baby was back to back and the pressure on my bum was just agony! Lasted about an hour before getting out for the loo and then decided to not get back in again. At 7pm I decided I really needed something more so I took diamorphine and it really helped, for about 2 hours and wore off boo! Those two hours were great and I dozed off between contractions. At about 9pm my waters finally started to break. As they were green it meant baby had had a bowel movement so I ended up having to get put on a monitor. They got me up on a bed, I had been lying on a low sofa type thing, and got me on the montior.
By about 9:30 I was 9cm. At 10pm we started pushing and it wasnt easy. The pressure on my back and bum were to put it lightly agony. I was hurting so much that I was struggling to get 3 pushes with a contraction. When I had been pushing for over an hour the midwife was getting a bit concerned and tried to get a doctor in but they were busy. I think they were considering assisted delivery at this point. Somehow I managed to get the energy to do it though and my beautiful baby girl Isla was born at 11:21pm at a very healthy 7 pounds 11. Dad cut the cord and we both had a wee cry
We got home from hospital last night as I so didnt want to stay any longer. Breast feeding going well. Got a few stiches, nothing too serious. Getting stiched really isnt that bad ladies. Just taking it easy and enjoying being a mum.
Will update the birth list as soon as I find the latest one.
